I recently built a house in Amarillo Texas. I hired a Licensed Plumber in town to do the work. He quit on us after being paid multiple times.(I had to beg him to finish each time). He finally did quit before his contract was complete. I had to hire help to complete our house. I contacted the Plumbing Board and they did a investigation. There lead inspector met with us multiple times. Took pictures and notes of incomplete work that was done. I even had texts messages proving he walked off our job. The plumber even was caught lying to this so called plumbing Board who teaches in their classes. (if you lie to a plumbing official you will be fined and could have you license revoked ) What good is a organization who can't even stand up against those who break their rules that they govern? Why even have a Plumbing Board if they can't or won't protect the public against unlawful business practices like this? I was told throughout this complaint process that this was pretty cut and dry. The plumber would be held accountable. Then I get a letter stating there wasn't enough evidence to find fault? I tried to call & won't even get a returned call back.(Not very professional)Just the fact that he abandoned or didn't full fill his contract should be plenty enough evidence to have some sort of repercussion. ( what stops any plumber from drawing to much money from a contract and not complete the work?) My family and I have been robbed from a licensed plumber in Amarillo and the Texas Board of Examiners won't do anything about it.

On 31 Dec 2014 I called Mike's Plumbing to come to my home, 119 Los Platanos, Mercedes, TX 78570, to clear a clogged sewer line. A plumber, Mike's son came out and cleared the line to the park's main line. He had to cut a temporary hole in the sewer line to allow the snake in to clear. He told me when he was finished that he would be back out Monday, 5 January, to fix the line connection collar that had came loose and also to put in a permanent fixture so that the like could be cleaned in the future. On 5 January Mike himself and a helper came out to fix the sewer line. When the helper started cutting the line with a power sabersaw he hit a power line to the mobilehome. He fixed the sewer line and I paid Mike $255.29 for the work that was did on 31 January and on 5 January. He left and when I went back inside the house I discovered I had no electric power. I immediately called Mike's Plumbing and getting no answer left a message. Getting no call back I tried calling four more times and left a message each time. On one of the calls at 11:37 I got his son and explained the problem and that I along with Mike saw the helper cut the power line when he made the sewer line cut. He stated he would contact them and let them know. As of this time 7:02pm I still have not received a call from Mike's Plumbing acknowledeing my calls to the cut electrical line. I did received a call from an electrician wanting to know about my cut power line and this was at 3:39pm. I told the individual that as of that time I had not heard from Mike's Plumbing and I had there fore contacted an electrician to some out and fix the problem. The electrician who came out fixed the cut power line and at the same time discovered that the circuit breaker was damaged and it had to be replaced. His cost was $250.00 which I paid him with a check. Since I had not heard anything from Mike's Plumbing as of the time of this writing I have since called my banking instution and stopped payment on the check made out to Mike's Plumbing in the amount of $255.29. This is my complaint to your department regarding Mike's Plumbing located in...

I've been a plumber in the state of Texas since 1994 I enjoy my service to public and my community and have dealt with some of the same customers for 3 decades and some longer But recent experiences with the board have not been good ...I wanted to pay for renewal, can't been done over phone, that's rather absurd however I spent an entire morning on phone and online trying to pay no calls back no success here are some of the responses I'm gonna to walk you through didn't work typed in temp password etc. One of the staff said I should give up plumbing.. I'm rather glad I can't remember that stupid perks name although I wouldn't mind meeting him in person... get automated voicemail leve name # info young lady says would you like for me to send him information ,yes of course, or would you like to leave voice mail how bout both since I knew they wouldn't call back .. I am a professional and but I can't most honestly say I'm not dealing with professional staff..rather government workers how sad.. I praise some of them bc I know how difficult it can be to do something over the phone however if your not going to take a simple $300 payment over the phone guess what you should know your online system forward and backward The time and discontent is pathetic and lacks training Long story short I hope some revamping can be done for the greater good of the industry quite frankly the board staff can use an enema as far as I'm concerned along with the dumb jerk who probably doesn't know his left-hand from his right when it...
