Took my dogs here today for the first time. As of now, my favorite dog park around. So much room for the dogs to explore, agility equipment to play and train on, water fountains for people and pets, and shady benches to relax on. I also like the stone ground covering, as it helps to wear down their nails, less chance of fleas and ticks, and it makes it so much easier to pick up "messes". They also have a smaller run off to one side which is great for separating smaller dogs, dogs showing signs of aggression, and even allowed for safe introduction of dogs in the park. I met two very nice ladies who came in with their dogs, who were both very friendly and great with their dogs. This is such a nice facility, which is very well kept, with baseball fields and a very nice playground available as well. Thank you Avon Lake for providing such great areas for residents and their furry friends! What a great space. Truly...
Read moreThis is a good dog park. It's completely covered with very fine gravel, and that means there's never really any mud in it. That's always a good thing. There is a small dog area but it is absolutely tiny and quite frankly, they shouldn't have bothered given how small it is. The rest of it is lovely and large with filled with very tall trees, so it's always shady even in the summer. There are obstacle course like things throughout the park for the dogs to play on, though I could wish there were more benches for the humans. There's also water for the dog and restrooms for you which is also nice, in a playground for the kids. The parking lot is always muddy though, so beware of that. All in all a good dog park. Like any place, you have to watch the owners more than the dogs. When that happens, I take my dog and go. It's the only smart move for safety...
Read moreHad a great experience my dog got on great with other dogs but a smaller one kept approaching her and the owner made no attempt to stop it and then blamed us for “why are dog kept picking on” his dog. When he heard her cough and asked why we stated she was recovering from heartworm and he said he doubted it and that we just couldn’t control her . Keep in mind our dog was sitting at our feet after calling and his dog was yards away. We ended up leaving and he returned to his seat and was on his phone with no awareness of where his dog was. Everyone else was great and most agreed he was rude but we didn’t want to cause a scene. We would love to go again but with no one to enforce the rules there our dog will get blamed because she is the bigger dog even though they were...
