Kirby Lane Park. Many a night in the late 70s, standing at the bus stop, waiting on that #23 bus to get me over to Broadway & Fayette to work the night shift at Jack-in-the-Box; then to high-school for class at 8:30 am. Where Kirby Lane Park is now...were houses back then. So. My delightful surprise to see this peaceful gem of green in the middle of Baltimore's rough and tumble. Nice! This Park is well laid out. Kudos to the City for paying attention, finally, to the City where real people live (not just the upscale enclaves downtown). But I digress. The layout of this park makes good use of every corner of space. Benches, swings, monkey bars, mural painted walls, walking paths, cookout area, a small stage area and a soothing green meditative space where, for a few minutes, you might forget you're in the City. Personally, I know this area quite well. Attended #150 elementary located about 5 blocks from Kirby Park, and I know people who live in the area. Read moreIts my original place where I grew up. The house I was raised in is gone but the park is amazing and brings events to the community.
With cooperation from neighbors in the area it can be better, if they together. However some people will remain difficult and will not contribute but destroy everything.
Hopefully Mr Donald Quarrels, Lead Gentlemen first the park, will find help to maintain his vision of a Better Baltimore. Great Job...
