As of May 2024, I believe we are on Mike VII or Mike VIII. Totally free! The first time we went, it was rainy, so Mike was elsewhere. But once the sun cleared, we found him lounging along the fence. Parking was easy. we didn't have to pay. There is a little gift shop in the building next to the sanctuary. They have tiger pillows (like a pillow pet), headbands, and tails, but they didn't have tiger plushies, when we went. On the one hand, it's partly heartbreaking to see a wild animal in captivity. On the other hand, it's so freaking cool to see a live tiger, for free, and so close. It was a holiday weekend, so there were a few more people when we finally saw him, but not many, so we got a pretty good view and were able to take an abundance of photos. Fun fact, tigers, whether in captivity or in the wild, will have a life expectancy of up to 25 years. So sad these beautiful, powerful creatures are dwindling.

Mike's home is an impressive Habitat and each time I go, he is usually out and about. I enjoy the gift shop next door as well. The campus is beautiful and this area is no exception with decorative tiles featuring donors and honoring lsu contributors. There is a big bronze statue that my boy loves. There are helpful plaques around the habitat that discuss Mike and tiger info. Parking is tough. Don't expect to drive up to it. We couldn't find any visitor parking anywhere on campus and instead had to park in the grocery store parking lot across the street. This was parking for the retail shops only but after driving around for 30 minutes and having to u turn when running into parking gates, we we're willing to take the chance.

Really awesome and the history is fantastic, well done LSU! It is a come and go view able open sanctuary that. An be seen from multiple vantage points. Mike the tiger seems to love attention and patrols regularly and usually towards people. He poses and moves like a kitty rubbing up against the fence and trees, very play full versus other tigers I have observed at zoos and such. He must be really loved by the care takers. We came on New Years day. I thought we would have the place to ourselves, but there were many families there to see Mike also, and it was great! The sanctuary was clean and well maintained, he seemed happy.

Geaux Tigers.....LSU The new exhibit for Mike the Tiger is so Beautiful, my Family and I absolutely love his new home. We're all huge LSU fans so we have to love it lol. But he has lots of room to roam around and like most Tigers lounge around lazily. I know alot of people don't agree with animals being held in captivity, and I must say I kinda prefer to see them in their Natural Habitat. If I do have to see them in captivity I at least love to see them well taken care of with plenty of space and love. And Mike definitely had all of those things. And besides now he doesn't have to compete for food in the wild or risk being killed for game by poachers. Which means he can live out a full Tigers life lol. Which is about, what, 10-15 years longer in captivity then in the wild. So all I can say is Gueax...

I went to Baton Rouge to take care of some business and and was not about to leave without seeing the new Mike. It was pouring down rain I got out in the rain thinking he wouldn't be out there buddy was. If I lived up there anywhere near there I would go have lunch with Mike everyday. They have really done a great job providing for that cat. It's a phenomenal habitat I commend LSU for everything they've done. Just wish PETA would keep their nose out of it. I am a huge animal lover and let me tell you that cat gets better care than I won't ever imagine heaven. His home is a multi-million-dollar home I will never have the opportunity to live in something that beautiful. Mike is a pretty cat he is very personable he is well worth going to visit if...
