I WISH I'd taken pictures, but we were SO entertained and SO engaged from the moment we sat down, it didn't occur to me to in the moment. We weren't staying at Wilderness Lodge, so we checked in at the gate and we're directed to the parking lot where we caught a bus to the Pioneer Hall. We arrived an hour prior to the show and we spent a little time at the arcade (tiny but air conditioned lol) and the Trading Post to window shop. We sat at our table and a super cheerful server came over with fresh cornbread and honeybutter (ermagherd the butter) and coleslaw and baked beans and asked about our drinks. As you're cleaning off your bread, the server is asking what you'd like seconds of while she's adding baskets of ribs and fried chicken, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes. The show starts almost immediately with old Western tunes and a lot of old timey comedy. We absolutely loved it. Super kid friendly, with the occasional joke that only the parents might get. They have everyone clapping and singing along to old folk songs we grew up with. While we ate dinner, the singing troupe came around and helped my daughter and some others feel special for their birthday or anniversary with songs and spotlights. Every member was featured and they did not disappoint. Every single one was beyond talented. Dinner ended with a cast-iron strawberry shortcake for the table to share. Venue was gorgeous. Cabin/Old West Hoedown feel. Everything was intricate and ornate and well lit. 3 categories for seating. Category 1 is the ground floor in the front, towards the stage, category 2 in the back. Category 3 was in the mezzanine with 180 swivel chairs to view the show from above with your back turned to your table. I will say this: we purchased tickets for Category 1. I understood I booked 2 weeks before, and expected to be sat in the back of the Category. I did not expect that the tables on the outside of the room would have obstructed views. Had I known that was a possibility, I'd have bought Category 2 and hoped for center seating. The servers were stellar from checkin to the bus back to the car at the entrance of Wilderness Lodge. The musical cast was AMAZING. They were beyond talented and incredibly funny. They engaged the whole audience in a way only Disney does. The food was great. Only complaint would be the coleslaw. Idk if it was a recipe or if something was wrong, but I'd never tasted Cole slaw like that, and Noone in our family looked happy after their single bite lol. The beans were great, the honeybutter on the Cornbread gave me life, chicken and ribs were perfext and Noone left hungy for sure. Make sure you take extra time to enjoy the grounds. You could easily stayed at Wilderness Lodge for a whole vacation and never set foot in a theme park. It's beautiful and there's SO much...

Read more2 things I wish I knew before - arriving early wasn't explained super well by Disney. They said be half an hour early. Okay. We left over an hour early to travel 6 miles, arriving to our seats 5 minutes late(!!!) because once you get to Fort Wilderness, you have to park and take a bus. There was NO parking. None. I circled the entire lot for 20 minutes wanting to cry 😂 we ended up taking a 30 minute space in front of the check in building because a golf cart moved. I was super worried we would be towed. (We weren't, thank God). Then we hauled ourselves to the bus depot, making sure we were getting on the correct bus, (has to be "Pioneer Hall" bus) which was NOT a quick trip; we could have ridden snails across the property faster (only stressful when you're late!) We finally arrived in front of the Pioneer Hall...to wait in long line to go inside. We found out after joining the line, that you have to go check in and get a ticket that you give to the host. Got the ticket and rejoined the line. When we got to the door, the cast member host who sat us got very sassy with me for asking him not to take away a chair and replace with a high chair, rather to just leave us a high chair for my 1 year old. He told me I "should have booked a ticket for the baby then" and I was "lucky we had a big enough table". Woooah spicy! I didn't say anything and just got the kids situated. Turned out my 1 year old was NOT willing to be put in the highchair for long anyway, he basically scaled the railing wanting to get closer 😂 The server, Erin was so kind to my children and she helped ease my mom-panic from being late. She might never see this, but Erin, your kindness and engagement with my kids saved day for me. The food was pretty good, and my kids were SO happy. Overall, worth it! Nothing more magical than watching your picky kid devour a loaf of cornbread like a burrito while your baby give you a RUN for your money trying to escape a highchair to get as close as possible to the performers. My heart was so full seeing them love it so much! We plan to do it again next year so the kids can...
