I had a really bad experience there today - I'm from out of town and not familiar with Giant Eagle, I was coming out of the Cuyahoga Valley park dehydrated and dizzy and needed to get some electrolyte drinks for immediate use plus some bottled water for later. I picked up what I wanted but I couldn't check out! I went to the first scanner and I couldn't start it without a loyalty card. I flagged down an employee (I didn't know what was wrong) and she plugged a number for me to use them when I tried to scan my first item, it didn't seem to recognize that I had put it down on the belt and wouldn't scan any more. That employee had walked away and the one behind me didn't answer (and I was in such a fog and so confused.) I have up and went to another scanner and seemed to be able to use that one without a card but when I told it I had a reusable bag, the whole station shut down and said to wait for an employee. After a couple of minutes, no one came and I just burst into tears and left! I could hardly stand up straight and I just couldn't get the scanners working and no one helped me. Looking back on it now that I've had something to drink (bought at walmart) and eaten, I think the scanner was confused that my bag was too heavy - it was an insulated cold bag - but I really could have used some help and just didn't get it. And since I felt so sick ,I didn't have the bandwidth to be patient and...
Read moreThe Bedford Giant Eagle should just be closed down. The employees are rude and unprofessional. The produce us never fresh and usually they don't have anything stocked and very limited produce section. The isles are never stocked. The meat is over priced and disgusting. Have had to return neat several times because it was expired / spoiled. You can never get help at self checkout and when I did ask for assistance the employees response was " man f* thus s* I ain't on this bs today, f* this I'm done." Proceeded to walk to the break room leaving everyone standing there waiting for help. Had to hit pay cashier and go to Customer Service and ask to pay there and then got attitude again when I advised her of what just happened. Her response was "ya well whatever." Will not shop...
Read moreThis was not the in and out trip I thought it would be. I'm from out of town and this was the closest grocery store to where we stay when we visit. Just needed a few things for the road trip home and didn't feel like traveling to the other giant eagle we typically shop at while here. Shopping was brief, but check out was horrendous. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have 1 check out lane open for 12 items or less and then 4 or so self check outs for everything else, really needs to think again! It took forever to get through the lines with people having to do this themselves that might not have experience doing so and on top of it just about every customer needed assistance of some sort with the crappy system they operate on. I'll drive out of my way next time...
