October 2022: One of the first times for my blended family hanging out was at Viaduct Park. Our goal was to see the waterfall and to hike while viewing the beautiful colors of the fall foliage.
Pros: Beautiful park that offers scalable hiking. More specifically, the terrain is not flat and offers a winding descent down a hillside from the parking lot to the majestic waterfall. There are tons of photogenic scenery along the paved path and many viewpoints with built up staircases and platforms. Well maintained park. I assume that the combined efforts of the park maintenance team and the public keep the park clean of trash and debris. I did not see one piece of trash around on the ground. I did not see any beer bottles or remnants of alcohol consumption here neither. Good job! I hope that things stay that way. There was a porta-john (or portable bathroom) in the corner of the parking lot. If someone need to use the restroom, then the best time to do so would be prior to the hike or descent.
Cons: The gate down at the falls needs to be painted again. The environment is harsh down there being very damp and misty so I understand the challenge in keeping it pristine.
Conclusion: This is a beautiful park. I only viewed the falls, but will return to explore it in its entirety. I strongly recommend that everyone give...
Read moreThis is a nice park. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. A railway viaduct used to run through this park and spanned its gorge, but only half of it remains today, and it has been converted to an observation deck to view the gorge below. There’s a wide, paved trail (much like a service road) that heads down from the parking lot to the waterfall, which is a beautiful site. It’s of a decent size and you can clearly see where the waterfall eroded the rock underneath it, which is quite interesting. For those looking for something more adventurous, a steeper, muddy trail forms a shortcut between the main trail and waterfall. One can also walk along side the river and scramble over rocks until they reach the bottom of the viaduct. There are also abandoned remains of a small arch that one can crawl underneath into a dark abyss, but I didn’t do that because my iPhone flashlight wasn’t bright enough. I gave this park five stars because it has a beautiful waterfall and a surprising amount of things to see. It’s definitely a wonderful asset of the Cleveland...
Read moreWonderful little hiking trail. There is a paved circuit that is wheelchair accessible, and many little paths branching off of varying difficulty. I went with a group of 3 adults and 4 small children; with some rambling, it took us about 40 minutes to complete the circuit. The kids really enjoyed it, and they especially liked seeing the waterfall. The trail at this location does not cross Tinkers Creek and does not connect to any other trail in the rest of the park area. It is a closed circuit. There are a few signs around the trail explaining the history of the site, so it is educational as well. There is a port-a-potty outhouse in the corner of the parking lot. Getting in was a little confusing, as it requires you to drive over a sidewalk that isn't paved to be part of the road, but there are signs so we didn't have...
