Best farmers market in the Nothern Sound region, still no compare to the east coast or city markets. The potential is there if there was about twice as much space. I look forward to a peak of season foray. Early season it's all about winter root vegetables, greenhouse (or cold frame) leafs. Make sure you check out all the vendors before buying any one thing. One may have beautiful radishes for $3 a bunch, another for $2 and only so-so. Samish Island Cheese and Bread Farm are required stops. A good variety of entertainment and vendors, and a lot of prepared food. I'd rate it higher except for the following, a lot of people unaware of others in a crowded place, you will get jostled and bumped around without so much as an "excuse me". Too many strollers inside the market sometimes three deep and wide, and political activists blocking sidewalks and pathways. ONE vendor with eggs, no set up for live poultry or fresh seafood, and too many places that add the word "farm" to their name to sell a semi-commercial product....
Read moreI live in Monroe and was visiting my daughter in Bellingham. She’s a student at Western and loves getting her produce from the farmers market, so she brought me along. My father had recently passed away, and I was hoping to find something meaningful to honor him. I wasn’t sure what I would find, but my daughter knew I needed to get out of the house, so off we went.
At the market, I came across a vendor named Ray who makes beautiful wooden boxes. He listened to my story and offered to customize a box for my father, even adding an Elvis song inside since my dad was a huge Elvis fan. It was such a special and personal connection that I never expected to find.
This is what makes Bellingham’s Farmers Market so unique—the people here take the time to connect with you, not just sell you something. Thank you, Bellingham Farmers Market, for giving me a keepsake that will always remind me...
Read moreI love the Farmers Market. My kids love going too. They have excellent local produce and local Meats and honey. There is a variety of food vendors serving affordable hot meals and beverages. They even have roasted nuts and kettle corn. The local art vendors are amazing. You can buy locally made t-shirts, art, jewelry and even get a henna tattoo or face paint. The face paint booth is amazing and my kids loved it. I love the local honey, the Artesian Cheese's and the local produce. If one has food benefits with the state, the Farmers Market will match up to $10 when you use your EBT card. You go to the customer service Booth located in the train depot and they will help you. You can buy produce and meats with your Farmers Market tokens. You can even buy plants that grow that are edible with your Farmers Market tokens. They even have street performers so there's always...
