I've been a regular at the Honeymoon for a long time. Tonight was a live show. At 9pm we grabbed a table next to parents with two kids, maybe 7 and 5yo. We couldn't hear the music because the kids were yelling at each other, then one jumped up and knocked my leg off the other, then one knocked a glass and a lit candle off their table, both of which crashed and broke on the floor. At this point I looked at the parents and asked them to please keep their kids under control so we could hear the music. The father then asked me to step outside. What? Then he started throwing scrabble pieces at me! Seriously? This is Bellingham! The kids continued to scream during the music so when the bartender came over I asked him to say something. Even after cleaning up the broken glass and melted candle wax he said, sorry we're family friendly. Omg. We left. As I paid for the drinks the bartender was obviously high and reeked of pot. I was offered some Honey Moon Mead while in Eastern Washington in the middle of nowhere and was told about Mead being in Bellingham and I HAD TO GO! I had the 12 sampler of all of the Meads so I could try them all and purchase the bottles that I loved. My favorite is the Wassail and runner up is the traditional Honeymoon Mead. We stopped in on a Friday night (2/9) and they had a live band playing called “The Broken Bow Stringband” and a few people hanging out drinking Mead. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this location and can’t wait to go back. There was a tall blonde working behind the counter and she was so inviting the moment we walked in! All around love this place and now I’m craving Wassail Mead on the daily. Oh and there were two fresh cakes on the counter that you could buy slices of, I’m not big on cake but shared a splice of the fresh lemon cake and oh my god it paired nicely with the warm spiced...
