As of about Oct 5th 2024 (probably before this date as well), they have had construction on the lower parking lot. I visited a few weeks ago, and they had the lower parking completely blocked, but the road up to the top parking was open. However, I went back last week on a weekday, and the entire park was blocked off. The road/parking was completely closed, and the trails had cones across them. No signs were posted about the closure, and we literally could not tell it would be closed at all from the Google Maps page. Normally, this is a very pretty park. It has a viewing tower at the top and an old tunnel that is open now.

I would avoid this area at night for safety. It's fine during the day, just a bit...

Cool tower in a GREAT casual hiking area and urban park. This is a free city of Bellingham park. Great views of Bellingham.

To talk about the park itself - If this park is the best in the city for one thing - TRAIL RUNNING. Not too technical, not too steep but good variety in grade. Not somewhere you need to drive to.

Otherwise, beautiful hiking or walking trails and great views from the observation tower. You can absolutely forget you are surrounded by the densest parts of the city in here.

Overall, the well-maintained paths and diverse flora make it a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. I personally think it’s a bit underrated compared to Bellinghams other similar urban...

Having a natural area near the center of Belllingham is wonderful.

The view from the tower is 'good' even though many trees have grown up to and even higher then the tower. I think it now needs another story to restore the view.

The park area is mostly up hill and is an extra workout route for joggers.

The trees are not identified so this is not a botanic site like a garden might be.

It's not a site to go for lunch as I attempted, later going to another park in Bellingham. But it is lovely as a...

Sehome Hill Arboretum In Bellingham, WA is a 175.5 acre 'park' by WWU. You can drive up and park and walk the shortage distance to the tunnel and the observation tower. Or there are trail heads, like the one near the top of Jeraey street, where you can hike more extensively. #darktourism #whimsicalpnw #pnwoddities #sehomehillarboretum #observationtower
