This is a favorite spot for us, though we only visit 6-8 times per year. Steve and Sue, the owners, both work behind the sushi bar with another sushi chef often there. They are augmented by well-trained, personable servers (probably students at WWU nearby) and with a kitchen crew that turns out remarkably good, widely varied but mostly Asian food in addition to the sushi. We try to sit at the sushi bar where the crew works quietly and impressively, careful about cleanliness (important to us when dealing with sushi) and between the restaurant and their takeout business, they are always busy. The fish in stock is clearly displayed on a board near the counter. Meanwhile, off the menu, are some excellent values in dining, particularly the Bento Boxes which provide generous servings. The tempura is especially nice, we think, delicate yet firm, not overdone; it's a favorite with my wife; I often have sashimi just because the raw fish is served so well, with reasonable portions. We'll have the house sake, sashimi for me, a Bento for her, and perhaps a side or two extra (miso comes with the Sashimi and the check is around $60-$65...not cheap, but worth it; way better than the "conveyor-belt" spots that are around the same price by the time you're out the door. The place has a modern ambiance with nice furniture and decor to match the somewhat polished feeling (and it's not too noisy!); it's located in a small office/professional building just toward town from the Samish Way McDonald's; we've always been able to park close by. Beware:...

Blue Fin Sushi is without a doubt my top choice for sushi in Bellingham, especially if you're looking for exceptional sashimi or nigiri. It's the kind of place you'd expect to find in a major city, thanks to the superb quality of the sushi and the outstanding service.

The chefs at Blue Fin Sushi truly understand the art of sushi making. Each piece is crafted with precision and care, resulting in flavors that are fresh and vibrant. The sashimi is always beautifully presented and melts in your mouth, while the nigiri features perfectly seasoned rice paired with top-quality fish.

The staff here make every dining experience delightful. They are knowledgeable about the menu and always ready to offer recommendations if you're unsure what to order. Their attentiveness ensures that you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in until you leave, satisfied and planning your next visit.

Blue Fin Sushi's atmosphere is modern yet welcoming, creating the perfect backdrop for a casual lunch or an elegant dinner. If you’re in Bellingham and have a craving for sushi, this place is a must-visit. It’s not just another sushi spot; it's a dining experience that stands out for its quality...

I have eaten here for many years. It is usually the only place I get fish. I have not been back for a few months. Recently, since May 2024 things have changed. If you call for togo within an hour and half of closing you will be turned away. If you show up to eat in resturant with in an hour and half of closing you will be turned away. If they are busy they will turn you away. If you show up to dine in and there is a wait to be seated. You will be encouraged to wait in your car. A typical wait time is 45 to an hour. I empathize that it is a small resturant. But as a business model, sending a hungry customer to wait in there car for an hour... You can not expect them to come back. After the 5th time of being turned away I started to think maybe it was me. UNTIL, I had dinner with a friend who also is a Blue Fin Fan like me. She too has had the same experince over the last few months and has completely stopped eating there. I do not know if I will ever eat there again. Which is a true loss. There ahi tower is the best! I write this review in hopes of helping other customers who have been turned away to know...

Our first visit to Blue Fin Sushi! We looked up who had the best sushi in Bellingham and were not disappointed. This place is a bit of a hidden gem located in a small strip mall type building. The service was on point, kudos to the servers and sushi chefs here as the place was fairly busy, and they were on top of it. Our food was served quickly and fresh. The miso soup was hot, and the tea was very tasty. We had the calamari - very fresh and cooked perfectly. I love it when the calamari comes out with the tentacles. Soo tasty! We also had three rolls, the Spider Roll, Wild Thing, and the Super Tempura roll. All were very fresh and tasty. The fresh fish was melt in your mouth. If you have not been here yet, you need to try it out. It may just end up being your favorite sushi spot. It is our now!

We came here for the first time Friday night, and enjoyed ourselves. I'm much harder on Japanese restaurant since I used to own one in the Bay area. The edamame we ordered needed more salt in skip the calamari tough and not very flavorful. My opinion was going downhill until the fish came and I have to say it was outstanding. They're using high quality cuts we had the unagi, hamachi, salmon and albacore. They were all very fresh very tasty and they're obviously using a top-end fish provider. We will be back and so glad we ventured down here to try this place.

Blue Fin Sushi is open for sit-down dining again! I haven't been here in a few years because they only offered togo service after Covid for awhile, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a great menu selection that was a little different than before. The appetizer had a little too much sauce for our liking, but I ordered the teka don, tuna rice bowl for my dinner. It was just as delicious as it was beautiful. The portion was so large that I could only eat half of it. Blue Fin Sushi is nicely decorated, clean, and always has friendly staff.
