California Memorial Stadium — Attraction in Berkeley

The east side of this stadium struggles. Did 3 stars only because I assume the other side is nicer? They clearly aren't investing a nickel on the east side. We were visiting campus with our teenage kids and we'd never been to a game. I've never been to a college stadium this antiquated and underinvested; high school stadiums rival the east side. No running water, port potties, permanent concession stands non existent and the temporary ones are so few that they have ridiculous lines at various times (when you wouldn't expect it) throughout the game. That's assuming you can actually get into the gate; again I've never seen ingress to a stadium this bad. Long lines, disorder, conflicting messages, lack of signage, etc. Honestly I really expected more from Cal given its reputation and all the smart people...

At this time I'm a student so I get to sit with all the other students which is pretty fun. The stadium itself is pretty cool and big. 3 stars because the students have to come in through some back alley entrance. That's BS honestly. On top of paying for the ticket they still make us go in through the back like they are hiding us. Some students should not be allowed in that stadium because they are just disruptive and destructive. I witnessed how some of them were making paper airplanes out of the stock cards and throwing them at their fellow Cal mates. They would throw the cards at them and just a total image that I wasn't proud to be represented by. I feel like there could be more unity among us, after all it should be...

Not a good experience at this stadium. We asked at least four staff how to find our seats and nobody seemed to know so spent almost 30 minutes confusedly walking around until we figured it out ourselves. Worse than this, we were sat next to the student section and the exit stairway in and out from our seats was constantly blocked by people who didn’t have tickets for that section. Despite this being a total fire hazard and safety issue, security did nothing to address the situation. In addition, the bathrooms on that side of the stadium are all gross portapotties. Due to feeling unsafe and having our seating area constantly invaded we ended up leaving...
