Bexley House is not an ideal place to live. There is a new management company in the past couple months, but my problems are mostly with the building. I only lived there a year and ran into many problems.
First of all, the AC was constantly breaking. When I moved in at the end of July 2023, it stopped working after 2 weeks and didn’t work again until the spring. You don’t have control of the AC/heat, it’s a master switch for the entire building. There are times when it is over 80 degrees outside and also 80 degrees in my apartment. No matter what I did, the space did not cool down at all leaving me and my roommate miserably hot.
When I first moved in, there was a bad leak that caused my downstairs neighbors ceiling to collapse. Not sure of what damage was behind my walls. My shower constantly drips which makes my shower get moldy within a few days. I put in many work orders for this but the problem continued to persist. Also the trim outside my shower has black mold and hasn’t been taken care of despite the many work orders for that as well.
There was/is a major pest problem. We had roaches in our apartment and through the halls that had to get treated often when we first moved in.
Also, the fire alarms would randomly go off, and when they did they would go off randomly throughout the whole day.
I also want to add that it smelled extremely moldy in my unit and throughout the building. Myself and guests would immediately smell it. I would leave my apartment and could smell it on my clothes… ew!! We know there’s mold since the trim in my bathroom fell off revealing mold. Where else is there mold in there??
The utilities have a fixed rate of about $250 which I’ve come to find out is way too expensive! Why pay $250 per month for water/electric/gas when the AC didn’t work all summer!! The new maintenance man was very nice and tried to resolve my problem with the AC, but it continued to break most likely because the building is awful and old. So I was paying this utility amount but no AC…
There are no amenities, and they continue to raise the price of these sorry apartments. Throughout the one year I lived at Bexley House, I have tried to find any positive to this community, but the lack of AC and amenities among many other problems make it hard to find one. The one positive of this apartment is the fenced in parking lot, but the gates are constantly not working too!! Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend...
Read moreBeware do not rent here save your money owners and management suck especially Jessica in the office she is a worst person to talk to she is rude very cold and will lie to you this building has many many problems that has never been fixed from 10 years ago please do your research he will find them the building is cooled with a chiller system meaning your apartment will probably get to maybe 75 to 80° humid in the summer if that and you have to wait for management to switch it on trying to get a hold of management about any issues for cooling and heating they do not respond piss poor Management in my opinion the owners and management probably have more experience working in a morgue than an hospitality apartment because at least in a morgue no one can talk to them back and discuss their problems constantly losing hot water this past November we went through no hot water for 19 days and Jessica had no sympathy for us at all because it wasn't happening to her at her house instead they just did not come on property and avoided the issue as much as possible Bexley code enforcement has a long rap sheet on these people already and they've been here since June the cockroaches are still out of control sure a little paint new countertops new interiors they think that they can sell this property but you will regret moving into this place once it hits summer winter is no better there is zero amenities and also if you have a problem about the air conditioning she will tell you the air conditioning is a amenity however when we are paying for it as a current tenant and is taking out of our electrical no matter what it's no longer a amenity when this company first took over anyone in a wheelchair or the severe disabled were up for non-renewal first and now they're going after everyone else so they can renovate is there excuse the renovations are nothing to be wowed about they have gotten rid of all the character of the building and wash everything out kind of like Jessica 0 personality cold-hearted so again please be aware of this property it is very dirty did you not have the means to keep it clean you will regret moving here...
Read moreThey left a comment on here saying I did not live here to discredit my review. I lived here from 2022-2023 in apt B6 and it was an absolutely terrible experience. Had leaks in the ceiling and maintenance would just spray the spots with white spray paint. Maintenance would enter my apartment without notice multiple times a month until I ended my lease.
They sprayed the building several times leaving a strong chemical smell throughout the building and the units inhabitable. Management was completely uncaring and seemed inconvenienced that people said this was an issue.
Management was either absent or incompetent. Not sure if she still manages the building but Diandra Graves is easily the dumpiest and least professional building manager I've had to deal with. Tried to reach out to people above her and received no response. I provided my notice to vacate the unit over a month in advance and then said since it wasn't written they needed to charge me a prorated rate for at month to month cost (nearly double my rent). Also had to call daily for them to sent me my deposit back. Diandra was a total nightmare to deal with.
The building is riddled with roaches, mice and thousand leggers. It smells like sweet garbage through out the entire building and the building is in complete disrepair. The elevators never work, the majority of the people living there are elderly and on multiple occasions I had to help them up 4 flights of stairs. The gates in the back constantly break down leaving your car stuck in the lot. They also do not turn on the air conditioning until well into summer and leave the heat running. I had to buy my own unit to keep my unit from over heating.
This company does not care about it's residents, they do not care about feedback, they do not care about making the place better. It seems like their overall goal is to do a little as possible in order to maximize profits.
Gold Olier is a terrible company, I would implore you look literally anywhere else for an apartment. If you're thinking this would be a good spot for an elderly family member I would completely avoid...
