I've given this shop more than a fair chance at being decent as far as customer service goes. I've spent hundreds of dollars here, and they continue to have abysmal service. I'll touch on a few points here:
The young lady who runs the cash register (not the lady on Sunday, that lady is amazing and deserves a better store to work for) does a great job of ignoring customers, and overall just being a robot. Get out from behind the counter and see if your customers need assistance or something. The gentlemen who runs the place is either ok to talk to, or is just rude and condescending. Shortly after a set had released, it caused a well known MTG card "Farseek" to spike in price so I swung by to see if Splash Page had any. I asked the gentleman and was met with a rude and sharp "If it's over 5 dollars, and it's not in the case then I don't have it!" He didn't even bother to look it up. Listen here, prices fluctuate. That $2 card might turn to a $5 card after a release. I left the store, called them the next day and spoke to the young lady and she pulled it right out from the box behind the counter. Here's my point, I ended up spending over $800 on this one deck, and I wanted to spend every dollar that I could in a local store. Due to this repeated experience, I will be going to KAB, and Nerd Rager. If they don't have the cards I need, I will go to Card Kingdom. It really is a shame, because the store has a great selection of cards, comics, WH 40K, D&D books etc. I love supporting local stores, but that support should not be met with rude and robotic arrogance.
To the owner, if you read this..... Shape up, because loyalty only...
Read moreSplash Page is a great place. Some of us are old enough to remember a time when Billings, MT had no dependable sources for comic books and geek esoterica. In those days, at best we had fly-by-night specialty shops that reeked of unwashed bodies and lived up to the worst "Comic Book Guy" stereotypes of fat, condescending man-children. At worst we had to hope Hastings had the comics we were looking for that week/month. Then Scott opened the Splash Page and all that changed. Suddenly we had a consistent source for our nerdy addictions. Scott and his store subverted all the normal expectations and stereotypes for a comic book specialty store. The store was (and is) clean, well-lit, and perhaps most importantly and most surprisingly, well-managed. Scott has been in business for roughly 30 years now. 30 uninterrupted years. He and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and ethical. Like any business, this one is run by human beings. That means that there's always the potential that something disappointing could occur. But Scott is an ethical businessman who values his customers, so he'll always try to "make it right." Shop here with a light heart. Not only is the product fun, but the people selling the product are there...
Read moreAfter spending nearly $100 a week at the shop. I had to leave to attend to a family emergency. Unfortunately I had a couple of books on pull that I didn't pick up. Upon returning I contacted the owner to try to pay for the books. He had however sold them. I visited the store and upon leaving the owner ran out of the shop accusing me of stealing comic books from him. After he realized that I had no comics in hand, he accused me of placing comics back in the wrong spot. I later contacted him and told him how wrong he was to act in that situation. Since that time he has banned me for no apparent reason other than him being a childish and whiny crybaby. This is how he repayed someone who spent hundreds of dollars...
