Exile On Main Street — Attraction in Branford

I don’t think I’ll go back here. And it’s very unfortunate because we don’t really have record stores around this area, and I finally had found what I thought was this hidden gem. I have been in a handful of times and haven’t had a positive experience. I feel like I am not wanted as a customer, or as many times I am greeted with a rolling of the eyes or a huff and puff, from the same cranky lady every time. Me trying to be positive I go in with a smile and say hi, but why am I trying so hard to make it a positive experience. I don’t work there, you do. Make your customers feel welcome. The first time I went in, I was looking for a certain product…. She replied “we don’t have it, I tried ordering it but……”. And I said “ok” and left. She didn’t offer to order it or anything (mind you, I had never really been in a record store before so I wasn’t sure if ordering something was even a thing), so I just left. Then the few times I went there I was spending 100-200 on my purchases, and I’m still constantly greeted the same way every time. One time I held the door open with a smile for the same cranky lady to enter before I did, and she shuffled by me rolling her eyes, and huffing and puffing when she saw me. Just rude and unnecessary. I was never a challenging customer in any way, I was always polite and had a smile. I work retail, and have dealt with “Karen’s” and people screaming at you. I did none of that and was treated terribly. I know how to act in a public setting. But yeah, I wanted to love this place, because the selection is okay, and they can order things that you’re looking for. but I shouldn’t be nervous to walk into a store because of the way the staff treats people. Never received one of the 2x records I pre-ordered from here. Emailed them after the release twice and did not hear back. I had to call them only to be told to "call back in 10 minutes." The person who handled the phone call basically complained about the online website (don't take online orders then?) and said they would get back to me. Meanwhile I asked to just refund the purchase since the record was limited release and I wanted to order it @ a vendor who has it in stock. Never heard back from Exile, and I ordered it before it completely sold out everywhere. They don't reply to email, don't seem to call back and don't care. Please refund my $34.98 you kept from a pre order you never fulfilled. I usually try to buy stuff locally when possible but I will 100% never...

I visit a few times a year and everytime I leave pleased. The owner is sweet, always ask if I'm looking for something specific. Always checks if she has it in stock. I've also order cds through the store twice and never had an issue. Products are new or used and priced fairly. Cds, vinyls, posters, dvds, and small odd n ends. It is filled with music, once you take a lap around the store, you will see everything is categorized. If you can not find something she will check for you. Up to date on new releases. She had new copies of Mac Miller new album, and has a list of some upcoming releases. Ive recommended people here numerous times and each one told me they found something for themselves and had a pleasant visit. This is one of my favorite places to visit in the town...
