I come to Branford for work and like alot of people coming to this restaurant, you are staying across the street at the Holiday Inn. It's convenient, price is OK, but it is the service that saves this place. First time coworkers brought me here, they all got burgers, I got a shrimp and pasta dish. Their burgers were all ok, my shrimp was inedible. The next few times I stayed in the area, I dined elsewhere. Tonight I was tired and didn't feel like driving. This time I sat at the bar, ordered a beer and a cup of chili. The beer was cold, the bartender friendly. The chili was the worst I ever had. Barely any beans, and the meat was dry and tasteless, absolutely no flavor except tomato in this chili. For the second bite, I stirred it up a bit, hoping to get more flavor, and when I took a bite, it was scalding and burnt my mouth. It was microwaved crap and they didn't even bother to stir it after taking out of the microwave. Pushed that away and ordered the Hot Honey chicken sliders. They were nicely presented, except there was no hot honey?!?!? Come on, this kitchen needs someone better! The bartender, (Carlos) apologized profusely even though it was not his fault, did not charge me for the chili, (thankfully) and gave me a beer on the house. Carlos is too good...
Read moreCareful with the salad! We arrived late, 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. We were not the last to arrive for dinner and the bar was full. We ordered quickly, my husband a beer and burger, myself a beer and salad. Beer came out immediately and food quickly followed. I ordered the Arugula Roasted Beet salad and was really looking forward to it. Sadly the chef or salad prep staff gave no consideration to the wilted slimy status of the arugula. I sat in the dimly lit dining room picking out the wilted leaves wiping the slime from my finders hoping it was just a few. Well, it was more that a few and I just kept picking them out until the waiter returned and asked how everything was. At this point I was coming to the realization my entire salad was in bad shape except for the fresh leaves on the top. So maybe the staff gave considerable attention and choose to try to hide the wilted food. Either way, I sent it back and because of the late hour did not opt for a fix. I've ordered many salads from a variety of local restaurants and this experience was appalling. I would never serve wilted greens and I'm bummed GW Carson has staff that does. My husband...
Read moreI put an order in online for pickup, it said to pick up at 6:30, I arrived early 6:05 and my food was already sitting out on a bare table and not hot. I ordered bbq wings, hot honey chicken sliders, mashed potatoes and the cornbread basket. The bbq wings were plain. The hot honey chicken sliders did not have and hot honey on them. The mashed potatoes tasted like nothing but butter and were gritty and the cornbread pieces were cut in half and re?toasted. (Pretty sure they were reheated once prior based on the texture). Nothing was fresh, when I brought the wings and chicken sliders back to the restaurant they reheated the wings (assuming in the microwave based on texture) and tossed them in bbq sauce. And they said the sliders had the sauce on them but was absorbed into the breading so they gave me a side of honey. Overall my total bill was almost $80. In conclusion they messed up my order, barely attempted to correct it and the food quality was horrible. I've had fresher food...
