Beautiful "natural" park, with loads of awesome kid play structures that are built to be part of the landscape. Not metal slides, swings, and monkey bars, but rather, buried "Mario" tunnels, "fossil dig" sand pits (yes, there's fossils built into and under the sand for kids to find), huge wood, stone, and rope climbing structures, natural wild flowers and foliage, and tons of space! Oh, and did I mention the three bike tracks? Awesome! Three levels of difficulty: a small track for littles/novices, a medium track for skill building, and an advanced track for major air and tricks. And if that's not enough, over the berm is McKay Lake, with a bike/hike trail around the perimeter, allowing for fishing and kayaking. Lake is stocked with fish. Beautiful views! Only a couple of cautions: there's very little shade, so slather on that sunscreen and bring a parasol because you'll be there for hours. And don't forget your...
Read moreToday was my first visit to McKay Lake Park and Open Lands. It is a beautiful and peaceful location, ideal for relaxation and exploration. We were focused on the trail and unaware that snakes seek refuge in the trees during warm weather. Despite this incident, McKay Lake Park remains a delightful destination. Simply be mindful of your...

The playground area is awesome! Just full of activities in a natural play landscape. Stairs made out of tree trunks, large flat boulders to climb, rope play sets, cargo net bridge and climbing net plus a few little slides built into the landscape. Good for supervised little ones...
