The coolest playground: made of natural elements that blend in with the environment 🌎🪵🌱 📍 McKay Lake Nature Park, Broomfield, CO - Nature playground - 1.6 mile trail along Lake - Fitness course - Bike park - Fishing dock #playground #familyfun #nature #outdoors

Beautiful "natural" park, with loads of awesome kid play structures that are built to be part of the landscape. Not metal slides, swings, and monkey bars, but rather, buried "Mario" tunnels, "fossil dig" sand pits (yes, there's fossils built into and under the sand for kids to find), huge wood, stone, and rope climbing structures, natural wild flowers and foliage, and tons of space! Oh, and did I mention the three bike tracks? Awesome! Three levels of difficulty: a small track for littles/novices, a medium track for skill building, and an advanced track for major air and tricks. And if that's not enough, over the berm is McKay Lake, with a bike/hike trail around the perimeter, allowing for fishing and kayaking. Lake is stocked with fish. Beautiful views! Only a couple of cautions: there's very little shade, so slather on that sunscreen and bring a parasol because you'll be there for hours. And don't forget your bike helmet!

Today was my first visit to McKay Lake Park and Open Lands. It is a beautiful and peaceful location, ideal for relaxation and exploration. During our lakeside stroll, we encountered a sizable snake slithering up a tree directly above us. Please exercise caution and maintain situational awareness, particularly if accompanied by children or pets. While attempting to photograph a bird, my sister nearly positioned herself directly beneath the snake in the tree. This is the second time she has encountered a snake while exercising on the path. We were focused on the trail and unaware that snakes seek refuge in the trees during warm weather. Despite this incident, McKay Lake Park remains a delightful destination. Simply be mindful of your...

Gorgeous, natural park. Good size parking lot with two port-a-potties. I know there is a trail that goes back to the lake, but our family has only gone for the playground areas so far. They have bike tracks with hills for older and younger kids also.

The playground area is awesome! Just full of activities in a natural play landscape. Stairs made out of tree trunks, large flat boulders to climb, rope play sets, cargo net bridge and climbing net plus a few little slides built into the landscape. Good for supervised little ones...
