OR the Foot of Ferry as it was called when I was growing up. Listen, this park is IT. The 1st thing I'll say is that this is like probably where your parents used to go to hook up if you're from Buffalo LOOL. This was literally always the spot known for that. I love how it's been updated over the years. In my opinion, it's one of the BEST parks for getting away near the water in Buffalo, NY. One of the ONLY spots that you can feel like you're walking in the down the center of Lake Erie. You get an up-close and personal perspective of the Peace Bridge from this park. There's always lots of people fishing and walking around. As with any other park, it closes at 10pm (not heavily enforced) so for the people having those make-out sessions in the car with the foggy windows, you DEFINITELY want to start heading on out out unless you want the cops flashing lights in the car asking you to leave because the park is closed (not a personal experience-haha). But one of the SCARIEST parts of accessing this park is the BRIDGE!! OH MY GAWD! I'll never forget the day my cousins mom jumped the bridge as it was lifting to let a boat through. I screamed so loud!!! The additions of the park benches, and pavilions were definitely an added bonus to this already...
Read moreThe park is beautiful and sits right at the bottle neck of lake Erie so the current is wicked fast and great for fishing. There's enough room so you don't need to worry about lines being crossed. It has a wonderful path along the water that actually goes out onto the water and the drawbridge is pretty cool to watch raise letting boats pass. The people are considerate of one another and pretty family oriented, but the volume does get a lil turnt up through the day into the night so I'd suggest unattended children head home when the streetlights come on. The only things I can say need attention is people should pick up after themselves a little better because it is an historical landmark that we know as the last stop of the underground railroad and that's a pretty big deal so maybe a couple litering fine signs may help. Also the porta potties need serviced more often don't expect tissue...
Read moreBroderick park is a hidden, but very accessible oasis of calm on Buffalo's west side. Located in the Niagara River in the shadow of the Peace Bridge, it is really two parks in one. To the north of the lift bridge used to access the park is a lovely mostly shaded river's edge bike & walking trail popular with the local fishing population. To the south is a walking trail built on a break wall that runs under the peace bridge. On this trail, you are surrounded by the Black Rock canal on one side and the Niagara river on the other. It's a great place to enjoy the cooling lake Erie breeze on a hot summer day and a perfect spot to watch the sunset all year long. The only negative aspect of the park is that due to occasional storm damage, the walkway is...
