I came to visit my parents from Northern Virginia and decided to shop for vintage pieces. I just moved to a new home and have full pockets. I couldn't wait to spend some cash. The entire place is covered in a few layers of dust and dirt and everything is stacked on top everything else causing some of the items to break under the weight. It's plain to see that this is a place where items are stored and not cared for. The worst is when I asked for help. I wanted to look at a vintage mirror stacked up behind a pile of frames. I was having trouble seeing the size and repair of the mirror. Instead of assisting me to look at the mirror, the owner instead aggressively insistently repeated that need to agree to buy the mirror before he moved the pile of frames on top allowing me to see the the rest of the mirror. Instead of treating me like a valued customer he acted as if I was there to steal his time and inconvenience him even though that was the first time I asked for assistance. We left immediately. He's not a salesman....

Jessica greeted us warmly and explained how the store worked. We made our way up the middle isle and met Max, the owner. What a sweet man. He encouraged us to look at the Sloan Antiques website, which I did after leaving, and the beautiful store holds even more meaning now. This family crawled through absolute hell and created something so beautiful from it. Some reviews complained about not having prices or being crowded or being cold. Just consider that this the most incredible collection you've ever been given the honor to see in person, and WOW, even better, you are allowed to dig through it unacompanied at your leisure, and chances are, you may be allowed to purchase some things! But anyway the collection of antiques and oddities that the owner has amassed is impressive but may not be recognized by the average person but there are a large number of gems in this place if you look.
