I loved looking at all the cool rocks here and that it is FREE to enter! It would have been better if access to it was better. I am disabled and there was an elevator but I had to squeeze by a high stairway to enter the door and it scared the crap out of me (I'm afraid of heights) AND I do not believe even the smallest wheelchair would be able to get in there, either. I understand it's an old building, but can they move the entrance door?

This FREE museum is a great place to stop if you're traveling far with kids. The campus it's located on is beautiful, really nice place to get out and stretch. The kids really enjoyed the florescent room. It is perfect, just enough to be interesting but not too much to be over stimulating. So glad we stopped here!

The kids have been very interested in crystals and rocks. Glad we took them here. Lots of learning was done and they have much more than I anticipated. The gift shop had a few books we picked up as well for our own mining excursions.

How have I not reviewed this place before? I've been bringing kid groups here for over a decade. I recommend it to grown ups, too. Fascinating, fun, free. Montana's largest gold nugget. Meteorites. Rooms of glowing minerals (blacklight and phosphorescent). Fossils. I'm pretty sure they have a sample of every mineral that you ever heard of and a whole bunch you never have. There's even an earthquake display, with notes about famous historical Montana earthquakes. Park in the back, there's plenty of direction signs to get into the museum on campus. Disabled parking, and...

Superb mineral museum and the curator is a gem too. The layout is perfect with lots of useful detail added without being overwhelming. I’ve been to mineral exhibits around the world where they are mostly endless displays of every known mineral but with very little useful context. This exhibit is centered on Montana but shows how Montana geology is linked nearby as well as terrestrially.

I particularly liked the display on mineral characteristics with...
