My son attended college here for 3 years with minimal input to the difficulty of navigating his way through college financial aid- class issues- available classes etc. very limited guidance and it's always .."someone else's department or job" It takes 3 days minimum to get a response via phone or email and when you do they send you to someone who lacks a human condition or ability to speak without judgment and they really only care about the money not the students! The administrative process is a nightmare. My son in his third year was diagnosed with a serious health condition and had to withdraw from school- he made the formal withdrawal request and left school to return home. He gave address change etc. the billing department never received address information from the business office and so they sent my son to collections prematurely rather than contacting him, us or making a resolution to make payments because someone didn't change the address in their system. When I called to work out an arrangement I had to speak with someone who said things so condescendingly like..."if your son had paid his bill" (side note: we didn't know that the amount was due as we had financial aid paying everything directly with student loans) they refused to help us and had zero compassion for the serious health issues- strain to pay the amount in 1/3 payments...which are sizable! On top of this, the Math Department is a joke- the professor for Calculus fails nearly all her students and yet the college does nothing to concern themselves with the ratio of failing students! No help or guidance what so ever, although they claim they have a tutoring department...student led tutoring is what it is and it's not always very satisfactory and rarely available when you need it most. :Library closes at weird hours and is unavailable in the evenings due to administrative cut backs etc. Sure wish I knew where the 20k a year went we paid! The cafeteria feeds our kids disgusting non- food vendor machine style foods! The fees and book requirements are a joke- 60-150 for a paper photo copied book that they use very little. Oh...and the college recruitment fairs by the big oil companies...don't hold your breath- they are looking at 4.0 students. This school can say all it wants to about it's success rate but seriously it is in the most mentally depressing area with nothing to do, and the employees hardly give a hoot about your kid and his or her success. Go somewhere where you can be sure to receive guidance and adept administrative and business staff. Choose a school that holds their students accountable and insists on educating them about the process of college and it's...
Read moreI am a current student going into my senior year at Montana Tech. The staff that I have encountered have been extremely helpful to me whenever I have any questions or need additional help. Sure there are times when I get redirected to someone else, but I would rather be redirected to someone that can actually help me than to stay with someone who is unsure. Once you find out the right people to talk to guidance is easy to come by. Most of the professors that I have encountered have an open door policy and encourage us to stop by for any help that they may offer. It is easy to go in and talk to them, they just leave it up to the students to take initiative and approach them. These classes are difficult! That is just the nature of these fields of study. With hard work and help from the professors and others (which many students do not take advantage of) the information can be learned. On top of professor help, the tutor center is available for scheduled appointments and walk-ins. The tutor center is staffed with students that have been through these classes so they understand the questions and woes of the students. No one wants to see someone fail, everyone will try and help however they can. One of the greatest things this college has done for its students is bring in many large companies to the career fair. This is the greatest opportunity to talk with these companies to try and get internships and jobs with them. Keep in mind that hundreds of students are trying to get in with these companies. The ones that get these positions work hard and make themselves look good. Montana Tech provides many different opportunities to learn how to make yourself appetizing to these companies. The surrounding area has many great outdoor activities and the campus hosts some nice events for its students as well. It is not a big city so there is not an abundance of things to do but really the reason to go to college is to learn and prepare for our future. This is a college that looks out for its students and is excited to see them succeed. I highly recommend Montana Tech to anyone that is looking for a college with a strong...
Read moreBathrooms are the greatest I’ve seen in my entire life. You walk in and BOOM! Spotless white floors and beautiful walls. Sinks are clean and on point. Not only that, however, but wow! They are some of the craziest sinks I’ve ever witnessed. Super high-tech, motion-sense, perfect pressure. And don’t even get me started on the ceilings! Perfect white tile, if I recall. No visible holes or anything. The toilets smell amazing and are amazingly technologically advanced. More motion-sense and I believe automatic toilet paper dispensable as well. The automatic hand air dryer is impressive, strong, and emotionally available. Mirrors are spotlessly clean and shiny. But the soap. The soap is what sets these bathrooms leagues above all of its competition. It’s the most perfect smell. Comforting, nostalgic, and yet futuristic all at the same time. It’s texture is that of whipped cream. Amazingly fluffy and cleans extremely well. Great moves, keep it up....
