Darkside of the Abbey — Attraction in Cañon City

This is the 2nd year (non consecutive) we've gone and its been great each time. We did just one haunted house the first year (not the basement one) and then did both of them this year. The basement one does have crawling, but its not scary. Most of the actors would just walk up to us and stare but that was it. More sense deprived than jump scares. BUT the nun in the basement on 10/31/25 decided it would be a smart idea to BLOW air and SPIT into people's faces. I get they didn't mean to do it, but I had specks of saliva land near/around my mouth. The only complaint for the other haunted house was there were a few areas actors would block the way making it difficult to know if we should be going that way or a different way. This was the best haunt of the season. No, that’s not right, this was the best haunt I have ever seen. The actors weren’t just engaged, they were terrifyingly good. They came out of nowhere screamed like they were literally dying, fell back into nothingness cackling at the guests’ fear. They managed the pace that you went through the house perfectly, keeping groups separated enough to enjoy the haunt. The prop work was fantastic, I don’t want to give anything away, but they had things that I haven’t seen any other house do effectively. The set work was brilliantly themed. I wish every haunted house did at least half as good of a job as they did with this. This haunt single handedly makes driving from hours away well worth the trip. If you didn’t make this haunt...

This was over priced ($90 for two people including skip the 3 hour wait line). There were only 4 different characters throughout the haunt including a dead nun that blew her bad breath germs directly in our faces. It wasn't scary it was very upsetting. It was mostly walking through a building that wasn't even really staged for haunted house, just mostly dark. We had crawl on our hands and knees through a very long crawl space filled with itchy dirty meldew smelling mattresses. There was a gap between mattresses and my supporting arm almost went through a hole in the floor because there was missing floor boards. This haunted house used to be really good and scary. Always over priced but better. Honestly, this was really disappointing and I don't recommend this...
