Only open from 1-3pm. Ancient adobe is great condition with some of the original hardware. Great to see how people lived in the 1800's. The only adobe I have ever seen with a dormer in the roof. Originally just one large room with fireplaces on both sides. Later 2 wooden walls installed to divide it into 3 rooms. It has changed so little in such a long period. A recreated horno is outside. There is also a red one room school house, a ranch hand one room house, and another building undergoing reconstruction.

Such a hidden gem! I was awed by how much information the tour guide had, and although the main exhibit is still in the works I was completely amazed! The number of authentic artifacts and one of a kind specimens was unmatched, dating back to even thousands of years old fossils. This is perfect for history lovers and learner alike! I would suggest calling in advance because it is still in the works!

It exceeded our expectations by far. This hidden gem is a must visit for any local or tourist looking forward to deepen its understanding of Monterey and Salinas. The original pieces of paperwork, woodwork and antiques are astonishing.

The staff there was so welcoming and friendly and lmao i apologies for laughing, I couldn't continue on with the fake nice comments about this place, because then I would be lying And I don't do that. The truth on my experience here was 1 star minimal, as soon as I spotted the place it was hard to tell if it was it because the parking lot was completely empty, I was wondering if it were closed but the entrance gate was open so that wasn't it. There was 1 cool WW1 tank I liked that the historical buildings were falling apart. NO RESTROOMS!!! No welcoming tour guide for information on anything about the place, I mean seriously the website was more informal. I hope they the staff, improves on their enthusiasm for greetings the visitors and or less racists and not to judge a book by it's cover, because I am sure they fear people who are interested in history but appear not to be interested lol. Thank you have...

The Boronda Adobe History Center is a true hidden gem! The volunteers, especially Dr. Mendoza and James Perry, were incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. The 1840s Casa Boronda is beautifully preserved, showcasing original features like redwood floors, twin fireplaces, and a charming veranda. The artifact collection is impressive—from fossils to ranch tools. Guided tours are engaging and thorough, and the site includes multiple historic buildings like the Alisal Jail, Lagunita Schoolhouse, and a WWII memorial. The heirloom botanical garden adds to its charm. Everything is well-maintained, and best of all—admission is free. A must-visit for...
