The service was cold. We were surprised that the server did not talk about the wines in any detail. They spent more time talking to coworkers and other customers. Maybe towards the end it got friendlier after I tipped 20%, which I now regret.
My husband and I wanted to do something special for my 31st bday so we decided on going to paso robles. We normally go wine tasting in los olivos so this was our first time in the area. We made a reservation beforehand and let them know we have our dog with us.
We sat inside in the back. There were flies everywhere. Our server gave the bare minimum. We assume it's cause we look young and I'm asian, and they assumed that we won't spend a lot of money that we weren't treated better. This is really sad cause we would spend more time at a tasting and we would purchase more bottles if the wine tasted good and if we were enjoying the service. Also every other winery and restaurant that we visited during our trip treated us warmly and impeccably except for J Dusi.
The wines we tasted seemed like they were just opened and needed more time to breathe. Maybe it was our fault for coming in at 12 pm.
The table next to us, the server, was super friendly and helpful. I also noticed our server spend more time at other tables. At one point, a fly got into my husband's wine, and we informed the server, and the server just took away the wine, and my husband didn't get to taste more of it. d, we were asked if we wanted to revisit or if we would like to try the zin port. It made it seem like we can only revisit a wine once or we can taste another wine once. We opted for the zin port. At many other wineries we have visited, you can revisit a number of wines and taste other bottles if they were open. This was not offered as an option to us.
We were in and out of that place in 50 mins while other tables in there lasted longer. We purchased a bottle of the paper street mourvedre and the zin port. I even tipped 20%, which i shouldn't have.
This place was recommended by a friend of ours, that's why we visited. However, we will not be...
Read moreDisappointed. We have been members of dusi for 12 yrs. We went there on Sunday with future in laws. To show them some great winery here in Paso. We get there are 11 on Sunday and the first thing the woman behind counter said " It is just common courtesy to make reservations. And that we are only 2 staff here. " I told her we where members and we just wanted to buy 2 bottles and enjoy the ground. The woman then said that they had some many reservations and again told us that they had on 2 staff. We sat and had our wine. During the time we where there. Only another group can in. We sat there drinking and enjoying the grounds. We where there for about 1 1/2 hr. I can understand working short but to be so rude customers. That is really unacceptable. It really makes us wonder what the service will be...
Read moreThe absolute highlight of our two days in Paso was J Dusi! The wine and atmosphere were equally wonderful! We enjoyed the whites as much as the reds. The Pinot Grigio is a refreshing everyday white and at such a good price point. The Albarino was one we had not tasted before and had to buy a case. The two Zinfandels will not disappoint (Dante Dusi and Paper Street) So many more, but those where are favorites. For us, the atmosphere at J Dusi cannot be beat. Friendly, knowledgeable, family run, and just relaxing. So many areas to choose to sit depending on your group size. We had 16 and every person ranked it as their favorite after two days of tasting. We went to many good wineries, but the relaxed nature and excellent wines won us over. 100% recommend, you will not be...
