Last Friday I had my first experience back at Dakota off leash dog park in years. How unfortunate that I was met by "Horrible Humans" again. This was my playful Labrador's first time there. Immediately, a man with two dogs (who were on leashes) covered his puppy with his body and yelled at me to get my dog away. Next my nieces small dog was kicked multiple times by a women when she ran up to her large dog (also on a leash). This is unacceptable behavior for dog owners. It's especially disgusting to do that to a child's dog in front of them. If you don't know how to be a responsible human/dog owner don't take it out on other humans and their dogs. Your behavior effects all the dogs around you. This was my dog park when the entire property was the dog park. I never had one viscous dog or horrible human interaction. This is not a fun friendly place, if you have a pup who wants to play. It is off leash. Isn't that the point. Run free and play. The sad thing is that my nieces and nephews have to be subjected to this frequently. They've been taught the proper way to behave with dogs. How adult of you all to be this kind of example of for them. I hope all you frequent "in crowd" park people read this to keep track of what's going on. Please encourage some common sense in your fellow dog owners in the future. Unfortunately, this is the exact same behavior I experienced ten years ago with my last Labrador here. I keep wanting to come back. I have great memories of the days my pup and I spent there 20 years ago. I wish that could have been the experience for my last two. This all...
Read moreOf all the parks in the Portland Metro area this is my Dogs favorite. Very large, spacious park that is fully and throughly fenced. It has a rough and somewhat gravel path that is still very easy to walk and stroller friendly. Doesn’t kick up a ton of dirt and dust but I wouldn’t wear my nice shoes there. Plenty of dog bag stations and trash cans for poop bags. A small dog area that is also fenced. I feel like there is significantly less altercations here because of the way it is laid out. Spacious and because it has a walking track, the flow doesn’t end up in groups of pups huddled on top of each other. Gives them a job or objective or a goal. Also space for one to get away from tense situations. The constant flow of the walking path seems to keep the peace much better than other places. My dog loves to have short and friendly meet and greets with other dogs as they stroll by. There’s plenty of room in the middle of the perimeter style track to throw a ball or for the dogs to play chase and really get their run on. It’s always so clean. People are very friendly. I like the amount of exercise I get and my dog always leaves good and tired out. Can’t say enough good things, really. People seem to be diligent about giving their dogs water that is fresh and dumping what they don’t drink but as a reminder it is always a risk to allow your dog to drink out of the bowls laid out at the parks. Proceed with caution. There are fountains to refill bowls on both sides of the large park so it’s never far to get to one. Bathrooms are...

I used to enjoy taking my baby here but the past few times we have been we’ve encountered some very reactive and borderline aggressive dogs. I understand dogs play rough sometimes but my issue lies within the owners. Today (8/17/22) I had a play date here with a friend and her two dogs and all things were well until a certain gentleman and his boxer breed dog showed up. His dog rushed my dog and grabbed him by the face while my dog was right next to me doing nothing wrong. I had to yank his dog off my dog while he stood there and watched. I yelled at him to come get his dog and as he was apologizing to me he stated “my dog is just an alpha male dog and can get hostile sometimes” I said that’s not okay and you should not bring your dog here knowing how he reacts. There were quite a few other people around us who saw what happened and as I was leaving some people came and told me him and his dog have a history of attacking other dogs there. I just want people to BEWARE that there is a dangerous owner allowing his “alpha male” dog to run around freely at this park and constantly attack other dogs!! I will no longer be taking...
