"Fallen Leaf" lake (actually called Dead Lake) has leeches, mosquitos, wasps, biting bluegill (yes, that's a thing) and tons of snakes. The restrooms are locked (unless you rent the space from the city), and there is no sand, beach, boat launch, barbecue pit, or paved walking trail. Off-leash dogs run the trails (unmarked) and the shoreline (tiny). Fishermen (what fish, though?) leave garbage for local residents to pick up. The access gate is locked, requiring a long walk through the (typically flooded) parking lot to reach the "lake" (pond). The water is cold but still susceptible to deadly algae blooms that periodically close the lake completely. Dozens of trees overshadow the picnic area and drop child-crushing limbs from a hundred feet up, and the weather is cloudy, rainy, and dreary at this lake for months out of the year.
Local residents smile politely but harbor resentment towards incognizant visitors that stumble over here with their beach chairs (?), sand toys (why?), and loudspeakers (WHY??) once the Lacamas and Round Lake parking lots fill up.
Visitors undeterred by this review should be warned that the solitude - still present, occasionally, somehow - may force upon you a moment of poignant self-reflection, melancholy,...
Read moreThis is a small park, just southeast of Lacamas lakes large parking lot. There is a short, straight through path that is flat and runs from the baseball fields by a church, in Camas, to this park. There is a trail that circles the lake, but the path is littered with roots, rocks, sharp turns, and short, but steep descends and accents. So, if you have mobility issues, this is not a good path. I wasn't bothered by them, but I did see a lot of mosquitos. Wear your Buzz Off.
There is also an event spot here, with picnic tables, a covered stage, and fire pits. I guess it's a popular wedding venue. It was quiet when my friend and I first got there, but a.gaggle of preteen boys whipped down the flat, dirt path connecting the.baseball field and had some fun splashing around in the water by the time we were leaving.
I saw a single bucket porta potty. There weren't any messes or trash we could see. I can see how this would be a popular hangout for people living nearby...
Read moreMy siblings rented the area for my moms celebration of life and I've never been there before but it's part of Lacamas Lake so everyone told me but this part my momma would have loved its soooooo beautiful and peaceful besides of course the biting mosquitoes I've been to other part for other celebrations of life but this was a beautiful very and the water wasn't as gross that I thought than lacamas Lake I dont know how much they paid to rent it out from 10 am to 10 pm with two bathrooms and lots of tables and room for outdoor games and swimming and fishing but the only thing I will say is that others could come to that area so if you pay to rent it they should block it off for those hours to others because it's in an area that you can and it has a lot of parking in the spot that we were at sorry I have no pictures because I...
