KOOL Ice & Seafood Co — Attraction in Cambridge

I've been a customer here for over 40 years. It's an hour drive for us but was always worth it for one reason. The quality and freshness of their products. Price never played into it. Over the last couple years I've noticed a steady decline in the fish quality and most recently the crabs and oysters. The boxed live crabs I purchased in September werent close to a full bushel. Was likely sorted just prior and by the time I got home had settled. 31 lbs of live crabs, not even close to 40. We bought a bushel of #1s Steamed in October. Likely a mix of several different days catch. Some fine, some soggy, and some outright dead and smelling of ammonia. Same thing with a bushel of oysters. Some fresh and full of liquor some, some dried out, and many already dead and open. These are the sorting games that many retailers play with aging product. Not sure whats changed but Kool Ice is quickly losing me as...

Was in the store a few days ago and inquired about the Salmon. I asked which was "wild-caught" and which was "farm-raised"? The young clerk put his finger (no plastic gloves), directly on the "wild-caught" and said: "This one is wild-caught". I said I would like 1/2 lb. He picked up the whole piece of raw fish with his bare hands...then I said: "I sure hope you washed your hands!" He said: "They always make us." For crying out-loud ~ Can management make sure the hired help uses gloves...or at least put their hand inside a bag (like I noticed the one guy did, who didn't wait on me)...acting as a glove. I wondered if my helper had just come from the bathroom and/or had germs from handling money!! He handed me my credit card with the same fishy hand...YUK!! If this happens again...I will definitely walk out and will not be back!! BTW...the fish was...

👀👀👀👀👀🙅‍♀️🙅‍♂️Very poor quality, I know Kool Ice could do better. I went to get fresh Crabs on Saturday, I did made the phone call to check if they had Crabs #1 and the woman at the phone told me they only have Crabs #2 for price of 65 1/2 of bushels, them when I get there the Guy who get my order at store charged me for #1 Crabs I said to him that the lady at the phone told me they were out of #1 Crabs and he implied that they still have number 1 size Crabs 🦀 and he charged me 115$ total my husband put the crabs in the back and my surprise it was when I saw those Crabs’s they were #3 SIZE. The Guy SCAN ME OFF he give me low Crabs for the price of the Good ones I been going there since 4 year ago and instead Kool Ice get better they just get SCAMMER, watch the people who work there THEY ALSO...
