The physical infrastructure of the university is good and really managed well but as far as concerned to the international student, opportunity are very limited for this international center of this university should take initiation. As I am the international student and I am paying a fee to this university and country, I should have right to utilized the facility as like other in certain terms and condition but here no opportunity. The people of international center who are working there they don't understand the feeling of international student, they are like a jerk people with immaturity and inexperienced as well as not friendly. As far as I know this university is undergraduate university and the graduate course in this university specially in science department is very poor not research based. the major course that they put and tought is handle by only one professor throughout the year. Like other university in US the science course must be research based specially in environmental science as it is full research based. I found the course is useless where i cannot make my career when i returned back to my home country. I had experienced variety of course in environmental field when i was in Nepal with that expectation I joined this university but with that course the available course here is useless. Reorganization of this university for international student is not so good because every semester student take transfer to other university why the college administration does not take any action and initiation? I think university is money minded, the information written in I-20 about tuition and cost its so high in real and so many hidden cost. Many international student are working on campus employment, according to the rule student can work 20 hrs per week but here student are working more than 48 hours per week where is the concerned for this? I will not recommend to this university for my friend because of lack off opportunity in employment, unfriendly behavior of international center as well...
Read moreDuring my experience here I hated it, this school seemed to be all about the money. First off, the school gives out so many tickets that you could pay for 5 classes alone with all of the money you spent on them. I accumulated 500 dollars’ worth of fines for the silliest things. Their appealing process is a waste of time because they never get back to you until it’s too late to pay. At some points they never appealed until I had to pay the late fee or went on academic suspension. They are so obsessed with the money they get from people parking in spots that are poorly marked that they even pay students to give out tickets for them. They also make you pay for renting books which shouldn’t be allowed considering your barrowing the book. They should only make you pay if it was damaged or never given back. They make your parents pay for a meal plan that they will most likely always lose money from because they don’t reimburse you if you don’t use some of your meals, they just take the money. My adviser barely helped at all and forced me to sign up for classes that I wasn't even allowed to be in until I was a senior. She also told me to sign up for the same classes that I was in second semester for my semester after that, which means she didn't even look or care about which classes I already completed. I was fined 50 dollars for an infraction as well as community service and an alcohol class, all of which I considered to be a bit overboard and another scam to get money. If you missed a class or service hour day you had to pay more money. Take in mind that this was my first infraction and that I had ever gotten and that the bottle wasn't even mine. They never have enough room in their classes for people who don’t have priority sign up. Due to not being able to get in a lab class I was a semester behind. All around I had a horrible experience there and consider it to be...
Read moreAs a graduate of Southeast, I can say that this is a beautiful campus with wonderful staff and faculty. The landscape is wonderful, the buildings are really interesting, and I had a mostly positive experience. Even with my general classes, I loved working with the professors I had and I enjoyed the learning environment. However it is not without issues. Dealing with student financial services and the dept. of public safety is usually a hassle and a huge pain.
In general, parking on the main campus is a difficulty: either you pay too much for a pass that only allows you to park a long ways from buildings, or you have to park very far away all the time, or you get a lot of tickets from parking where you're not supposed to. DPS is very on top of things when it comes to ticketing.
The food is hit or miss, usually miss unless you eat at one of the branded places (Subway, Panda Express, etc.). Lunch at Towers is usually good, but dinner and breakfast anywhere are only occasionally good.
I studied music and as such, spent a lot of time on the River Campus. There I can say that the parking situation is much better (more street parking) and the food is generally better. In general, this is a good school with a lot of good...
