Arriving, I found Century Casino's Riverview Hotel parking lot clean and well lit. While entering the lobby, The Front Desk person greets each guest coming through the door immediately and conducts a pleasant, efficient, and informative check-in. The room key you are given adds an extra level of security as it must be waved near a "black box" below the floor number buttons before the elevator will operate.|My room was spotless, spacious, and well designed. Yes, the hotel is less than a year old, I believe. The use of laminate flooring throughout the room with the exception of about a 2 foot border of carpeting around the bed assures another level of cleanliness as well. The bathroom is surprisingly large and has decent complimentary toiletries. | The view of the river, bridge, and barges traveling from the room is spectacular! Small things, like two bottles of complimentary water, which don't appear in most hotel rooms anymore or if they do, you get charged for are a nice touch. |I'm not much of a gambler, but walked around the casino and found the staff to be pleasant and welcoming from the security officer at the entrance to the drink servers, bartenders, and wait staff at Restaurant 53.|It's a short walk (about 7 min.) to historic Old Town Cape Girardeau where a good selection of restaurants, bars, and shops are available as well.|Since the hotel has it's own entrance, and is separated from the casino by a good amount of indoor space including a Starbucks, the hotel rooms and areas are quiet for a place that has a casino. It's also the only hotel in the "Old Cape" historic area near the river if you're looking for a great view. |This place is now definitely my choice to stay when I'm in...
Read moreI was excited to get a discount rate on the room but feel like I would have been better at a hotel away from the river and train tracks. I'm sure I'm exaggerating but it felt like the train ran for an hour every other hour. It's not loud in the room but I could hear the hum & feel the vibration. I'm sensitive to it. My wife slept through it. There is a Starbucks and two restaurants but check the prices before you go. One had dinners that were well above reimbursement amounts for my work. They advertised as fine dining so that seems reasonable. The room didn't have a Riverview which I didn't expect but walking around I couldn't see the river at all. Maybe 5th floor & above? They also didn't have a coffee maker, microwave, or full size doors in the shower. One might as well be in the hallway naked with the breeze going on if the bathroom/closet ironing board room door (mouthful right?) isn't closed tight. They would also benefit from installing soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers in the shower than the single-use tubes. The rooms are new, fridge TV, safe, and beds were very comfortable and the room was super clean. Lighting was well thought out and fit with the modern decor. I expected more and better from a regular priced room for $140 a night w two queens and a view of the landside neon casino sign (Expedia). I'd only recommend if you can get a...
Read moreStayed there twice on our trip to/from Baton Rouge. Rooms were clean and spacious. On our first visit there was a bug on the bathroom floor and our TV didn’t work. Upon talking to front desk, no rooms had TV due to some kind of interruption. The next morning we went to the Starbucks in the hotel. Two people ahead of us had orders for large groups (like 10-20 people to get coffee for). With only 2 people working it took quite a while for us to get our order made. The second time we stayed there there was no one in line when we got to Starbucks for our breakfast and one person working. Perhaps it was because the first time was a weekend????.| |The second visit = ice machine did not work on our floor (3rd floor). Also, the outlets on our bedside table did not work which meant I couldn’t plug in my CPAP. We moved a small table to the other side of the bed where we could utilize a wall outlet and we did alert hotel staff. ||We were surprised to know that cocktails were NOT complimentary while gambling.||Prices vary. We were able to reserve a room ahead of time for $199 plus taxes and fees. The couple with us called day of and had to pay $277 plus taxes and fees for the...
