I am still in awe!! I vaguely remember visiting Carlsbad Caverns once as a child, and what I did remember was how much I enjoyed the adventure!! I can definitely say that this visit to the caverns is something I will never forget. From the descent into the cave, all the way down to the mind-blowing views of the beauty within the planet we get to call our home... I still can't find the words to express how amazing this experience is! This nature filled journey, into our planet, is most-definitely one to put on your bucket list. You know just in case it's not already on it š. If you have children, I recommend waiting until they are about 7-8 yrs old so that they will be more open to enjoying this beautiful experience with you. My two younger kids wanted to just race the whole time while my 7 yr old took the time to capture the moment and really let the peaceful ambience really soak in. If you are energized by your presence in nature, I absolutely advise to visit Carlsbad Caverns at least once... Or twice... Or more, who knows?! All I am saying is that you are missing out on mother nature's beautiful creations within if you haven't...

You can climb back by walk or using the elevator like we did. We saw amazing rock formation and at the end there is the Bottomless Pit. We did the Big Room tour and takes about an hour. It is just fantastic and a bit intimidating.
Save yourself trouble and buy entry tickets on-line, just a 1$/per (plus general entrance fees) b/c it is qui busy and walk-in tickets were not avail when we got there. We saw folks turned back and access to the Caverns end at 2:30pm.
Our boys truly enjoyed it and got their junior...

The amount of work the Park Service put into allowing public access to these wonders - is the wonder in its own right.
Logistics: you can stay @ Carlsbad, if you need extra cushy comfort OR you can park @ the Whites City, White's City Cavern Inn.
Do advanced reservation: saves you the spot, as this particular date might be packed. Dress lightly: leave bulky stuff in the car. Pick the right "neighbors" : some might ruin your experience.
No flash, no loud talk: whisper your excitements into your friend's ear.
Worth every mile...
