Of all of puerto rico, this was by far our most favorite experience. Armando was amazing in setting us up with our boat captain Francisco. Now we had taken our kids 10 and 12, kayaking, snorkeling, ziplining, waterpark at Dorado at Ritz and just forget it all. THIS was the best day of vacation. Francisco was wonderful with kids. He worked the boat and lines so smoothly ensuring every possibly chance of fish for us and despite the rain drought, even made it rain! LOL! We had snacks furnished for kids, drinks, beer for my hubs, rainjackets, the boat ran beautifully and oh yeah- we got FISH Baby! THREE! My kids and hubby were freaking out shrieking! No fish were lost because this man KNOWS how to land fish despite my boy and girl BOTH wanting to help each other reel and walk around the boat. Bless his heart he had immense patience and laughter and we had the best day of vaca! They are well reputed, no language, are also known for the best fishing when big wigs come to town I found out from the Concierges and I see why now. Humble men with huge talent and hearts. Be careful- there are two other venues with similar nMes so make sure you reserve the right one well in advance. Courtesy is 25% gratuity in general but we did above because we will be back. My family and I had the incredible opportunity to spend 1 day with Captain Carlos targeting tarpon in the mangroves with a fly rod, which I can honestly say is some of the most exciting fishing you can experience. And when it comes to getting the job done, Captain Carlos, and Puerto Rico Magic Tarpon are the real deal. My only regret was not dedicating more of our vacation to fishing with these guys!

The fishing was absolutely phenomenal. We landed 10 Tarpon and had more opportunities than I could count! Had it not been for my own missed hook sets and bad timing we would have probably caught double that. We were on fish pretty much the entire day. Captain Carlos knew exactly where to find the fish and skillfully controlled the boat to keep us on top of them. His expertise made all the difference, and it was evident he knew the waters like the back of his hand.

We had a great morning with Captain Francisco! We had booked a 6 hour trip, but Capt Armando suggested we reduce it to a 4 hour due to a heat wave that had slowed the late morning bite and he didn't want us wasting our money. I think that really speaks to his integrity and that of Magic Tarpon as a whole. On a day with warm water and tough fish, Capt Francisco really worked to keep us on fish and was a joy to be with, always positive even when I consistently left casts 3' short of the mangroves. The gear he provided was not the problem - a Sage 8 wt graphite II (the last good rod Sage made imho) and a Tibor reel, but rather it was operator error.

Ultimately, he was able to put me into my first Tarpon on the fly, I jumped a second, and missed a third. My cousin, fishing gear, jumped one in the 25# class. Between grabs, Francisco's stories of growing up in the area, and occasional ration of well deserved s**t made the morning Magic, Tarpon or not. Five stars, and can't wait...
