A week before a planned trip for my birthday to Southern California, I was made aware that a 1939 Willys coupe that my Grandfather had bought new was a part of the museum's collection. Unfortunately though, I wasn't going to be in the area while they were open to the public. I sent a message to the museum, and Lana made it happen on the day I was near the museum! I am so very grateful to her for opening the museum to my wife and I so that I could see the car. It was a very emotional experience for me, and a very special birthday treat! I wish I could have met Rick, but I still have to get back there with my Father at some point so that he can see the car that he has many fond memories of, as well as view all of the other exhibits. This place is a must see if you are in Long Beach!...

Some of the quality paint jobs will blow your mind! Many of the vehicles are going to be familiar to you, unless you have been locked in a closet your whole life... Then there is the building. My goodness. At one point I thought I was getting lost? The layout is anything but random. The way they have laid it out and painted...everything, the walls, the ground. It's got fantastic dioramas set up, brilliant murals everywhere you look and a lovely collection of vehicles. This place however really shines because of the lovely volunteers that are dotted around happily telling you about the place, it's founder and the exhibits. The sense of passion and pride from all of them was really evident, Sharon on the front desk made me feel so welcome the second I walked in and everyone else I met continued to do the same throughout my visit. Take a bow guys, you are...
