Putnam District Library — Attraction in Castleton Township

I love this library but highly recommend if you use the drop box that you take a video of the books you're putting into it. I had an incident where I returned some books on time and 3 weeks later got a text that 1 was overdue. Unfortunately I didn't have a picture like I thought I had taken putting them in the drop box and questioned myself if I had accidentally left it in my car. Long story short I paid for the book thinking it was a fault on my part just to find the book on the shelf a month later and when I brought it to the attention of the workers the only option I had was to leave it there or take the book home and was told that wasn't the first time recently other members had paid for a book to find it on the shelf. Seems like there is an issue that needs to be addressed on whoever is checking in books from the drop box, doesn't seem like a very convenient help to the members if this is happening. Nobody was rude to me, in fact they were very kind, but I would've like a refund and the problem to be addressed.

It was extremely inconvenient for me and frustrating as at the time that took place I was dealing with my son's health going back and forth the UofM and then having that problem arise just to find out later it was unnecessary and not my fault.
