A year after starting my chiropractic care journey with Dr. Swanson, I feel I need to update my original review. For background- I have a very physically demanding career, an autoimmune disease, a seizure disorder, and I'm autistic.
Dr. Swanson has been a continuous saving grace when it comes to pain and mobility. I don't see him nearly as frequently as I used to (or as I'd like to), but each visit drastically improves my mood, alleviates pain, and reduces stiffness, and has had a positive impact on the frequency and duration of my seizures. Dr. Swanson always checks in at the beginning of your visit to see where you need his help, and he checks in along the way to keep you comfortable through all the work he does. Coming to see him for my pain has been the best healthcare decision. If you're here reading reviews, I highly recommend scheduling yourself a visit.
Also, Emily is still the absolute best. She greets every patient like an old friend, runs a very well oiled front of house, and is genuinely a great person. ❤️
The practice is clean clean clean, and the sensory stimulation in the waiting room area is minimal (music is turned very low, lighting is soft, and the smell is pleasant but neutral). They have plenty of disability friendly seating, and the wait is never very long at all.
First review a year ago- I've never been to see a chiropractor before. I've always just locked up the idea of it in my "not for me" box. But, when I visited my doctor recently for serious, unyielding, pain in my lower back that was shooting down into my foot ( and limiting my ability to perform my work tasks)..she convinced me to give it a try.
Let me start off with my first impressions of Cedar Park Chiropractic and Acupuncture. The admin staff, Emily and Kim, are so professional and personable. They are the first faces you see at this practice, and they make you feel immediately at ease. I could gush on and on about them- they're just really nice humans to interact with. Secondly, this office space is CLEAN. It smells nice, the lighting is soothing, the colors are inviting, the seating is disability friendly... Whoever designed this office was extremely mindful.
Dr. Swanson is a gem of a human. He very gentle, informative, reassuring, and thorough. As a first time chiropractic patient, I was anxious about the whole process going in, but as soon as I met him... I could feel that I was in good hands. He even called me the evening of my adjustment just to check in and make sure I still felt okay. When you go see Dr. Swanson, you can expect great bedside manner, and quality care.
*Also, I am a very plus size woman. Sometimes my own hang-ups about my weight make me leery of situations (like getting on a massage or chiropractor table, for example)... Dr. Swanson was able to manipulate my body for adjustments in a way that didn't make me uncomfortable. He even told me at one point "don't worry, I've got you" when he could preemptively tell I was worried about rolling off the table. Don't hesitate to get the care you need, Dr....
Read moreI recently started seeing Dr. Swanson in October when I woke up one morning and struggled getting out of bed. I sit for work and don't stretch as often as I should and so, a couple of times a year I find myself in quite a bit of pain in my lower back/hips/knees (it's all connected, right?). I've ignored the pain/worked through the pain for most of my life, but this time was significantly worse than I had experienced before and I had no idea what to do or where to turn.
I reluctantly called Dr. Swanson's office and scheduled an appointment with his staff (Jessica and Emily are unquestionably the nicest/most professional individuals I've ever dealt with at any Doctor I've ever been to). So I go to see Dr. Swanson and immediately recognize that he is a true professional in every sense of the word. He's friendly/polite/prompt and best of all HE LISTENS to your concerns. He's not looking to put a band-aid on you and send you on your way with your hard earned $$ in his pocket. Instead he carefully evaluates and then looks to take a prescriptive approach in regards to treatment and therapy.
Within 3 visits I was feeling significantly better and I had already begun to trust Dr. Swanson. I followed his advice of going 3 times a week for a little over a month and by the 3rd week I felt like a new person. I sleep through the night better, I don't toss and turn anymore, and my hip pain has completely gone away - even on the long days where I'm sitting for extended periods of time.
Needless to say, my wife got tired of hearing me talk about how much better I was feeling and decided to schedule an appointment for herself. She's a yoga instructor and has a lot more experience with chiropractors then I do and her experience was nearly the same as mine. She was blown away with the entire process and said that Dr. Swanson is the best chiropractor she's ever seen.
Dr. Swanson has also been working with our 11 year old son, Gavin, who has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheel chair. It's truly incredible to feel the difference when I pick up my son out of his chair and he feels so much more limber and when he crawls on the floor with his little brother, I can see the difference in his ability to move and change direction much more quickly then he had been able to before working with Dr. Swanson.
Dr. Swanson, I hope that you, Jessica, and Emily truly realize the difference that you're making in people's lives. You all have made such an incredible impact on this family in such a short period of time, I cannot possibly express enough gratitude to you all. You have earned our business for life and I mean this with the utmost sincerity when I say, no matter how cheesy it may sound, y'all are part of...
Read moreHe may be one of the best chiropractors in the world, but I will never know because I just made it to the reception.
Even that the ladies in reception are very friendly, since I arrived it was all about how I was going to pay for this as my health insurance wont cover because it was product of a car accident. I was not at fault, and I already talked to the other driver's insurance and they will cover for the expenses once the treatment is finished. I can pay with my credit card and get reimbursed and that was one of the option I gave to to the ladies. But it appears that this was not a very acceptable form of payment because it could be " thousands of dollars" the treatment, and they assumed I cannot afford it (I'm debating to think they assumed that because I'm Hispanic? or does it happen to all patients? or because they usually charge that amount of money to everybody? Mind you, the doctor hasn't see me yet, so they don't know what I have! ) If I give you this as an option for my payment, please accept it! But they really wanted me to call my car insurance company to open a personal injury claim so I can afford the visit to Dr. Swanson. They did mention that I should call the insurance when I made the appointment, but I totally forgot. All the conversation about how I was going to cover for the expenses was done out loud in front of other patients. This also display lack of professionalism and privacy of my case.
After I left the office in tears, I got a phone call from Jovaughn to apologize for the incident. This still doesn't cure my problem, this still doesn't change the fact that I felt discriminated. It appears that one can work hard enough to be protected with my own money, health insurance, car insurance, and it still doesn't look like it is good enough.
I was there because I needed to see a doctor, my neck still hurt and this stress doesn't help. But this visit was totally ruined because everything I was asked it was about the payments, and they didn't even asked how I was feeling.
So, if you go to this office, my recommendation to be able to see the doctor is that you have everything in hand to reassure them that you are able to pay. Otherwise, be ready to...
