Backstage Performing Arts Utah — Attraction in Centerville

We were so impressed with our experience with backstage performing arts. Our daughter was in their Jungle Book show this summer. We loved how they divided up parts so that every kid, no matter how big their role, had plenty of stage time. The costumes, scenery and sound were done very well and made for a polished production. However, what left us most impressed was the culture that they have created at their studio. It was clear that kindness is a priority for them. Doing your best, learning that you can have fun creating, working together, and that you don’t have to be absolutely perfect to be awesome were also things we could see that valued. As a parent, I really appreciated that they were able to promote a ‘doing your best’ work ethic without heaping unrealistic pressure on me or my child. When COVID hit, all our summer plans were cancelled. When I saw Backstage Performing Arts found a way to safely hold their summer camps, I was thrilled! Safety and health were their priority from the start. Masks and social distancing were enforced as well as having small class sizes. It helped my children get used to wearing a mask during class time. I know it will make them more comfortable when school starts. Beyond safety, my kids also had a wonderful time! They came home every day excited to share what they had learned. It made me happy to see them get exercise through dance. They loved the crafts and singing. Backstage is an outstanding place to be! They not only put on the most spectacular shows, but they care deeply about the individual growth of every student. My 10 year old daughter has been attending classes for three years and has grown in tremendous ways. Her confidence has soared while being a part of the amazing performances. The voice coaching has been fantastic! I love how they challenge and push their students to accomplish more than they think they can. When you walk in you will experience a place of inclusion, and find out very quickly that these professionals are here for the kids. They want the kids to succeed and do their best.
