Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden — Attraction in Champaign

Stunningly beautiful and well-kept gardens! The renovations at the center are fantastic -- the bridge is lovely, the waterfall is soothing and tastefully directed, and the surrounding embankments are aesthetically pleasing! Great variety, good spacing, and very pleasant to walk through and just lose some time to the grandeur of nature! Only little downside is that the pieces for the oversized game of checkers here have since started to fall apart, though that's nothing against the gardens themselves. Looking forward to visiting again, possibly with paint...

This garden makes great use of vibrant colored flowers/plants to make a very attractive display. The Koi pond with the cascading waterfall was also drawing a lot of interest. While I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer number and color variations of the Koi, for some reason, I also seemed to appreciate the fanciful lily pads more than most. Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful gardens, well worth the visit. This place would make for a great photo-opportunity for a couple or family. It diffinitely would be a wonderful back drop for a wedding also.
