Life Time — Attraction in Champlin

On March 31st 2013 4 friends and I were dropped off at Lifetime Fitness to play basketball by parents. I had been to this location once before and me and some friends had payed $15 to play basketball. My friend had come the week before and said it was $3.50 and that the lady from before had made a mistake.

When we got there, we were served by the same woman as the first time ( time we payed $15 each). She told us that because we didnt have proper I.D (Chaplain Park High I.D or License) we could not get the 3.50 fee. She asked us in a mocking tone why "your 16 and you dont have a permit". We also could not get the $15, it was for people who came with a member. She said it was $25 EACH just to play basketball. She said that the lady who had charged us $15 had broken policy and will be delt with (IT WAS HER. I REMEMBER). It was cold, we didnt have ANY rides or anything of the sort. She told us we had to leave. So we complied and walked to McDonals in the cold. We sat there for 1-2 hours. We then called our other friend, he said he was playing at lifetime. We asked how he got in and he said he begged her and she agreed. We were Furious. We walked back then called him out and asked how he got in but we didnt. She said because he came with a member which was irrelevant. We were once again instructed to leave the property or the cops would be called. We left but met yet another friend in the parking lot, who happened to be a member. We went back in with him and asked to play. She only gave use the $15 price not the #.40 our other friend got. We asked her why he got that price and she said he has a Champlin Park I.D. THAT WAS A LIE!!! He's my friend, I see him every week I know what school he goes to. He also does not have a permit or Licence. She lied. And then said she was going to call the cops. We left. (our friends informed us that the cops did indeed later come. We waited for another 3 hours or so at Mcdonals and then finally got picked up. She was short, brunette and Caucasian. Not very specific but if I were to see or even hear her I would know it was her. She told me that she had had problems with me before which was false cause I had only been there once before. She had me confused w/ someone else and took it out on all of us. The worst part is she was hypocritical. She started out by saying "company policy blah blah blah" and by the end she was breaking it. My friend did NOT have a Champlin Park I.D because he does not go there I promise you. He does not. She lied. And whens he knew we had her she called the cops. I would have stayed and explained my case but my friends wanted to leave and I respected that. I want Lifetime to take disciplinary actions and an apology form her. No money, no discount just action...

I lifetime emailed them since my hubby and I started new jobs amd our schedule made it impossible to make it to the gym to please stop our draft and cancel payment and our membership. I got an email back from them acknowledging my email that said we needed to sign something and it took 30 days for them to cancel. I knew with our new schedules it would be difficult to get to lifetime to sign something so I put a stop pay on my bank payment so they woudn't keep dipping into our account. Then I sent an email saying no problem I stopped draft to let them know. Apparently they sent an email which I didn't receive saying I still needed to sign something to cancel. However we did still get in there to sign something to make it official 11/6. They sent us something saying we still needed to pay all of November and December because apparently to cancel you have to physically sign in person with a wet signature and give them a full 30 days and since our payment came out the first that gives them a right to another months payment. Now the back story is that we hadn't used the gym in 4 months. So they are trying to come after us for 2 months of payments for services we never used. Even though they knew our intent to cancel in the middle of October and my email was acknowledged. Here is the biggest kick in the pants. My hubby has been a loyal member for 15 years and me for close to 10 years and because we are saying we dont think we should have to pay since we haven't used the membership in over 4 months and we notified them to cancel in October. Now they are threatening to send it off to collections. This is insane how they are treating us after all of the money we have poured into lifetime. I asked if they are willing to treat loyal members like this and apparently the answer is yes as I was told we have until 12/31. We had every intention of renewing our membership in the future after my kiddos are out of the house but not after this. I work in customer service and this is RIDICULOUS!!!!!! Misled when signing up about eligibility of my kids to be part of parents night and other fun activities. Never was given access to the account online, even after requesting support. Was double charged for lifetime bucks for swimming lessons and cancellation charges for another 30 days for anything including swim. The staff was nice but apparently they can't fix anything since it was all corporate but corporate doesn't respond to requests through their website for support or fixes. Majorly regret signing up. Family account was 1OO and Fifty a month plus swim lessons so this last month after they double charged me I paid $2FourFour .. for 1 month.

Sales won't tell you this but if your child is under 3 all those parents nights they talk about are a no go, so are the any fun events. Sales told us we'd be able to use that service and there would be fun activities for our kids... he was well aware one of our kids is 2 since he typed that into the account I never got access to. Sales also made the account and messed up what kids got swimming lessons.

The swimming lessons were good. The staff in the kid center were nice. Front desk is nice but the place needs to be able to fix their own over charging and account issues. If you don't mind being double charged and being signed up for things without your consent this is the gym for you.

• I have added a star recently * While the corporation really seems set to charge you without permission the swim team there tried their best and really did help my boys with their swimming skills.
