Over the years I've been to many events here. I absolutely love this coliseum. I will admit that as a convert venue, it is not the best sonically, but in almost all cases, the touring crew is responsible for the sound, and with one day to set up and work things out, it can be tough to produce something pristine. But at least it's not as bad Grady Cole.
Being the first and oldest modern dome in the world, the history here is matched by no other place. It's literally a living artifact.
I'm so happy the Checkers are back in the Bo 'Round, I hated seeing them at TWC, and only went twice during their tenure there. Way too expensive and too much of a hassle overall. The remodel here has been fantastic. Love it.
I genuinely don't understand the issues people are complaining about with Parking. In 20 years I've never had a problem. Sounds like one show had an issue with too many people attending a rock show when the auditorium next door had an event during a weekend when CIAA was in town. The perfect storm. That's unfortunate, and I don't understand why they would redirect all the way to Eastland when there is tons of open pavement just up the road, but it sounds political.
Concessions prices are still reasonable here which makes it the last larger venue in town where this is the case. I dread the day they succumb to $9 24oz bud light cans.
And lastly to everyone complaining about the niceness of the venue in comparison to TWC or even that place in Raleigh, I can only say this: Your desire for new sterile buildings without character results in the loss of venues that ive held dear for decades, and they are going away in favor of greed at a staggering rate. Our city has character that is being ripped out in chunks, but for now The Bo'Round is still alive and kicking, and I for one will continue to patronize it....
Read moreThis was the absolute WORST venue I've ever been to in my entire life!!!! DO NOT GO HERE! I arrive only to be told the lot was full and need to go to another site were I'd be shuttled into the venue. It was 15 mins away and took a total of 45 to get me back costing me an entire band on the list for the night. After arriving during the last band of the night the staff were EXTREMELY rude for no reason what so ever and treated several others I saw the same way. People were being ejected for the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of in my life! I've been to over 200+ live shows and I have never seen anything like it. I was almost knocked down by a security guard on the floor in an open area and wasn't even apologized to. Then I was directed by a police officer out a set of doors where I was told you could go to smoke and seeing no signs and it being a cop working the event I did so. As soon as the doors slammed I a man said no re entry! Having not even smoked I turned around and beat on the door and explained to the lady working it that I had wrongly stepped out and didn't know there wasn't re entry and saw no signs. I'd driven 5 hours to that place and spend 140.00 on my ticket and I wanted to come back that I clearly wasn't drinking and all my friends were inside. They denied me re entry even though I have even been there 20 mins in total and I lost out on the entire show. These people care nothing for the people attending and don't have the slightest bit of common sense. POST LEGIBLE SIGNS Where they can be seen!! It's also fairly small for a coliseum. Trust me, go to the next place or venue for your entertainment. This place is bottom...
Read moreNot handicap friendly. My 91 year old father moved in with me and I wanted to take him to some games. He relies on a compact folding scooter. When I contacted the Checkers about handicap seating, they couldn't tell me what sections and how to obtain a ticket. Same when I contacted the arena itself. Only when I went to a game with my son, did a helpful usher show me where I could score the scooter and I figured that there's 2 rows only that he can sit it to make it to.
Went to the Salute to Heroes game yesterday (April 20, 2024) and let go on one of the ushers. First off, where the handicap sit, she said he could not sit there, it's reserved and there were no other areas. Normally there's a section covered off I can slide his scooter into but there didn't have any this time. I asked her if I could keep the scooter in the handicap seating area as there was enough space but was told no. I was in the 109-110 section. I moved the scooter as close to the empty handicap area chairs as I could while myself and several people helped my dad walk from the aisle to several rows up and in the process, she came over and told me I couldn't leave it there. That's when I lost it because she could clearly see what I was doing and never gave me a chance so I yelled at her to get out of my face and leave me alone. Once I got him seated, I rolled his scooter around until I could find someone who let me store it by the entrance. The handicapped should not have to go through this and you should have a guest relations that you can...
