Nature's Spa and Wellness — Attraction in Charlotte

As a client of size, I am always concerned about how I will be treated by body work professionals. If I will be made to feel embarrassed or unwelcome, if I will leave feeling more stressed than when I went in. The experience I had at Nature’s Spa today was the exact opposite of everything I have ever feared and thanks to them I now know that there is space in the world of spa treatments for all bodies.

From the moment I walked in, I felt enveloped in a sense of warmth and comfort . The lobby area is generous for a business of this size and sets the tone for the entire experience; it is homey and welcoming yet still professional. The women working the front desk - whose names I did not catch, my apologies - were both incredibly gracious and kind. They set my mind instantly at ease regarding my ability to set boundaries in regards to what areas of my body I did and did not want massaged. I was shown to a room, provided with the complimentary fruit plate that was included in my service, and advised that my therapist would be in soon.

That therapist was Priscilla and she has hands of steel wrapped in velvet. She heard and honored my exclusion zones and still was able to provide a comprehensive and relaxing treatment. For 60 minutes, I was able to enjoy the body I was in and the experience I was having rather than being worried about the perception someone else has about that same body and its right to that experience. Priscilla melted knots and relieved trigger points I didn’t even know I had.

My aesthetician, Susan, was equally as welcoming and professional. I had never had a facial treatment before and Susan was more than happy to walk me through the experience step by step, explaining the products she had chosen and their intended purposes. We chatted some during the treatment but she also seemed to know the perfect moments to allow for quiet in order to fully enjoy the experience.

I would have to say, when I first met Corie, the owner of Nature's Spa, it was over the phone in a very distressed situation. I had been recommended glycolic products that had completely RUINED (burned) my skin. I had a wedding coming up in a few months and was overwhelmed. Corie was so informative over the phone, I decided to book an appointment with her to see if she could 'fix' my skin problems. During our face to face consultation, she did make it clear to me that she could not resolve any of my skin issues. She was honest. I LOVED that about her. Every other esthetician that I'd ever met gave rave reviews about specific products that do this or that, or what they could do. She didn't. Her honesty won me over. She explained to me how my skin may not be sensitive, but may be highly reactive, which means that I didn't necessarily need aggressive skin treatments to achieve results. Boy was she ever so right! I stopped seeing and consulting with everyone from that day forward and I now only see her for my skincare needs. The products from the Eminence line that she uses on my face have been a god send! They are natural and highly concentrated! I purchase them exclusively, though she didnt necessarily recommend that I spend every dime on products. I was in for a couple of treatments Tuesday September 14, 2016. The receptionist was so soothing and pleasant. Explaining the different massages and even a package when she realized the two I chose where already in a price break package Ashley was the wrap tech and Raphael was the massage tech. Ashley introduced herself and explained she would be leading me step by step through my wrap. Always checking on me to make sure I was comfortable. Keeping me informed when the mask had to dry, how long the jets on the tub would go and how much time I had between my sessions to use the restroom, eat the beautiful fruit tray and drink the water before my session with Raphael. Raphael introduced himself and informed me on his procedure. They both read the answers to the check in questions so where aware of my problem areas. Again, Raphael checked on me through out the whole process, letting me know which part he was going to next and checking that the pressure wasn't uncomfortable. My complaint was my mid to lower back was spasming. He verified that with me and formed a plan. IT WAS AWESOME. My shoulder, which I did not even complain about hurting was another spot he worked on, since I had noted torn rotator cuff surgery on my paperwork. I did not even realize how much I wasn't using my left arm because of the pain until after my treatments! My ROM is twice what is was Tuesday morning.
