I signed up and completed Koko Fit Clubās advertised 6-week advertised āfreeā challenge. During the initial meeting with one of the owners, I was informed that this challenge actually requires an initial payment of $399. It was explained that this money will be refunded at the end of the challenge as long as you achieve their determined āsuccessfulā results, which is 25 lbs of weight loss or 6% loss of body fat. I was also informed that 87% of the individuals who attempt this challenge are successful and earn their money back. I was essentially given the impression that as long as I work hard, show up for the appointments, follow the meal plan, etc, I will likely be successful. I decided to go for it, and I paid the $399. The challenge itself was very good ā the trainers are all very enthusiastic, the meal plan is reasonably easy to follow, and my results were great. I ended up losing over 8% of my overall body weight during the challenge, which is admittedly quite impressive. In fact, I was even given an award for the highest percentage of weight loss out of all of the participants. Based on my impressive weight loss, one would think that I surely achieved the minimum results for Koko Fit Club to consider me āsuccessfulā and Iād receive my money back. WRONG! According to Kokoās (somewhat questionable) calculations, they determined that I only lost a little over 4% of my body fat, therefore making me unsuccessful and losing my money. Additionally, only 8 out of the 39 participants lost 6% or more of their body fat, which works out to a 21% success rate ā quite a far cry from the 87% success rate I was promised at the start of the challenge. (I donāt think anyone achieved the 25 lb weight loss.) While I believe that Koko Fit Club is a good gym with an effective system, it is clear to me that the owners are dishonest at best, or fraudulent at worst, when it comes to their business practices surrounding this challenge. The best compromise that was offered to me was to reduce the $399 from my annual gym membership cost if I become a member. Considering that Koko Fit Club is one of the smallest and priciest gyms in the area, I donāt consider this to be a viable option. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The coaches who are all knowledgeable, helpful and friendly are always available to guide me through my program, explain how to set up, follow pace, keep form and achieve my goals. Your program is individually selected based on your needs and wants. YOU JUST HAVE TO SHOW UP! Each member receives a USB fob that easily guides you through your choice of cardio routines as well as your personalized strength training programs. I don't have to think about what exercises I should be doing or if I'm doing enough of the correct exercises for my goals. The system even reminds me when I should be scheduling a strength test and how to best prepare for it. I can preview my next workout session which is helpful but, then again all I really need to do is SHOW UP! I recently participated in the 6 week challenge-a nutrition plan designed to fit my individual needs. The challenge also incorporated my workout sessions. I learned how to balance proteins, carbs and fats in my meals as well as portion control. Recipes are provided for each meal during the challenge which was helpful-yet I could choose other options as long as I kept my ratios in balance. I found that I was easily committed to making the changes with the guidance and help I was receiving from the coaches. Karen, Joe, Kristie, Nicolle, Shannon and Jake are all motivational without being pushy(Leah, Christine & Colleen are not currently at KOKO but they are not forgotten for their support). Half the time I couldnāt even last past January before I would quit. The amount of diets and diet books I went through has cost me a great deal of money. My investment in return was minimal and short lasting, for, in a few months, Iād be right back to where I started and usually in worse condition.
I recently decided to try something new. It was a combo gym/weight loss center. Of course, they go hand in hand but I could never have anticipated what was going to happen next. Not with my track record.
That was the beginning of my transformation! I learned I can eat 5 times a day, no counting calories or points or carb grams. It was so easy. Every week I received a shopping list and recipes to choose from. Weāre talking real food. Carbs, protein, healthy fats at every meal. This time the weight is coming off the way it should.... slow and steady. I was not hungry and even complained a few times about having to eat again! And
Talk about fun! These workouts were fun and challenging at the same time. This is a program that I can stick with no matter what life throws at me.
