My husband and I stumbled upon Hen by accident while getting donuts for our toddler at the Dunkin Donuts. Once home we had more errands to run and would need to pass by Hen again. We decided to give it a try. The place is nicely decorated, very chic, trendy and clean! We decided to sit down instead of take out and I'm so glad we did. Our server was very polite and sat us immediately. The music was the BOMB! I'm a 80"s girl and 44 years old . Hearing old Phil Collins, Sade, and others hade me swooning. Andrew the owner is amazing!! I watched him greet everyone at every table. .Not crappy small talk, but a owner who LOVES what he does..He wants to get to know you! The menu is filled with delicious choices too..I wasn't overwhelmed, but I was impressed If you plan on eating at ,Hen DO NOT EAT ALL DAY..The portions are LARGE. I was staring at my plate In sadness not being able to take another bite. Andrew showed us how to eat Vietnamese carpaccio..another must try dish. The servers are clean, knowledgeable, and friendly too. I left a 25% tip. Bathrooms are super clean as well. I texted my daughter and a few friends while dining to tell them about Hen. I'm definitely going back. So many soups to choose from..The spring rolls are filling and fresh. I could keep going. I will say I've always loved Vietnamese people. As a black woman I feel very comfortable around them and welcomed. . Andrew made our dining experience wonderful. He treated my husband and I the same way he treated a table of 6-7 Vietnamese people. We are a interracial couple. Please visit you won't be disappointed. Andrew, thank you so much Markeeta & Gene.. Ha and my husband left...
Read moreWe had dinner here as a group of 8. The food was great, but the service was very disappointing.
As soon as we sat down, we were asked if we were ready to order—barely two minutes after receiving the menus. With a larger group, it naturally takes some time to decide. There were only two high chairs in the restaurant, and since we had a 1-year-old, we were told we could get one once another family left. After that family did leave, no one brought us the high chair—even after 10 minutes—so my husband had to get it himself, despite the staff not being busy at that time.
We arrived around 6:15pm, received our first dish at 6:30pm, and the last dish by 7:10pm. At 7:30pm, with plenty of food still on the table, a server asked if we wanted to pack up. We said no, we were still eating. Only five minutes later, another server asked if we were ready to pay—at 7:36pm—even though the restaurant was half-empty and doesn’t close until 10pm. We felt rushed out for no reason, which was frustrating.
To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, the bill already had a 20% tip added automatically. The waiter never mentioned this, and additional “suggested tips” were still shown at the bottom—something easy to overlook if you’re not double-checking. On top of that, there was an extra 3% charge for paying with a credit card.
Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service left us disappointed and...
Read moreI love Vietnamese food. I’ve been wanting to try this place ever since they opened, Unfortunately I didn’t get in the first time. I came on the day that they closed for a private event.
This time my out of town friends visited, on our way back from Wildwood beach, we stopped by for dinner. And oh my! I am impressed, their food were absolutely amazing. The tastes and presentation were on point. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu lol. They were delicious, especially the grilled clams, the BEST! A must try! My favorite was the dipping sauce (Nuoc Mam) and Mam Nem sauce were spot on! not like at any other Vietnamese restaurants, I find it was too bland. But here, they were perfectly sweet, sour and a little kick of spicy.
The chef told us they made everything from scratch here and their portion is huge with reasonable prices. However, we were a bit disappointed, because we didn’t get to try Banh Beo that day. They were out. It’s also another popular dish that must try here.
Overall, we had the best time here. Owners and staffs are super friendly and very attentive. Excellent services, food came out very quickly. This small restaurant is a hidden gem in Cherry Hill. I highly recommend anyone who love Vietnamese food as much as myself should come eat here! You won't be disappointed! This is the place to go for authentic Vietnamese comfort food.
