Nestled in a plaza filled with a variety of cuisines, Basak Bakery is a true gem for Turkish delights. After indulging in the delectable Italian fare at Toscana, Basak is the perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth with an array of freshly baked goods. The service here is absolutely exceptional. The staff is consistently warm and welcoming, always ready to lend a helpful hand in choosing from their delicious selection. I’ve visited several times, and not once have I encountered an issue. One of the things I love about Basak Bakery is the ever-changing dessert menu, with fresh creations made daily in the back. I’m often drawn to their banana-infused treats, but the cookies are also a standout—light, airy, and just the right amount of sweetness. You can enjoy your treats inside the cozy bakery, where the courtyard features a serene water fountain that adds to the relaxing atmosphere. With plenty of seating available, it’s a delightful place to unwind with good company.

I stopped by Basak Bakery today and ordered three different kinds of börek — meat, spinach, and cheese — and I was very disappointed with both the food and the service. I told the girl at the counter that I was going to eat outside but asked her to pack my food in a box so it would be faster. I paid right away and ordered a cup of tea, explaining that I was in a hurry. She said, “Okay, just have a seat, I’ll bring it to you.” I waited a long time, and finally went inside to ask. She said, “Your order is ready, I just couldn’t bring it to you,” and handed me a large tray with plates and tea. Since I decided to eat outside, she didn’t even bother to open the door for me while I was carrying everything. As for the börek — it was terrible. The meat one had a bad smell, the dough was very thick, and all of them had very little filling. I was really disappointed!!!

We bought a birthday cake today. It was a complete disappointment. This place supposedly makes Turkish products. The cake was very unsuccessful, there were almost no ingredients, only something like cream was put on the bottom. It has no taste or salt, as if they soaked brown bread and put it there. It says fruit cake but there are no proper ingredients in it. If you are selling such expensive products, if you are so ambitious, why don't you pay attention to these. I will share the images below, you can examine them. You can buy the same product from Shoprite for half the price, much more delicious.

Turkish Delightful, Service a Bit Sluggish: A Bakery Review

This Turkish bakery stole my heart with its incredible atmosphere and mind-boggling variety of desserts. The moment I stepped in, the aroma of freshly baked bread and warm spices swept me away. Sunlight streamed through mosaic windows, illuminating walls adorned with intricate tilework. It felt like stepping into a scene from a fairy tale.

Now, onto the main event: the pastries! Rows upon rows of baklava in honeyed layers, glistening kadaif rolls studded with pistachios, and delicate lokum in every imaginable flavor made my eyes widen. I indulged in a pistachio-rosewater cookie that melted in my mouth, followed by a slice of baklava so flaky and rich it felt like pure luxury. Every bite was a revelation.

My only quibble? The service wasn't quite as speedy as the sugar rush I got from the desserts. The line moved a bit slowly, and staff seemed slightly frazzled. But considering the bakery's charm and the sheer artistry of their creations, I'm willing to wait a few extra minutes for such a sweet experience.

Overall, this Turkish bakery is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth and a sense of adventure. Just be prepared to be enchanted by the atmosphere and blown away by the flavors. And perhaps bring a bit of patience for the service. Trust me, the treats are...

Pretty bummed out at how I was treated here. I had high hopes since I’ve seen so many great reviews.

Upon entering, there were 3 young ladies at the front. I was the only person in the store, they did not greet me. I walked back and forth looking through the glass waiting for someone to ask what items I wanted, they just stared at me - there was a tall young lady with a pony tail and she basically scoffed and rolled her eyes at me upon entering the store and again when I mispronounced the name of a dessert item. I should have left at that moment when I realized they weren’t interested in serving me. They then proceeded to speak to one another in a different language while looking directly at me and smirking. Since I was already there, I ended up purchasing 2 items. I had anticipated on buying more but after being treated as such, I will not be back. I’m pretty...
