Looking for a short day trip? Well here's a good one. Snuggled in the middle of Chesapeake City Maryland is the C & D Canal House Museum. It's not a fancy place, but it's quiet where you can take a self guided tour and learn about the history of the canal, the area around the canal and the people. There are interactive models of the old canal locks as well as some actual equipment used along the canal. The building itself is an old pump house and the two massive pumps are located inside the building.
