C & D Canal Museum — Attraction in Chesapeake City

Looking for a short day trip? Well here's a good one. Snuggled in the middle of Chesapeake City Maryland is the C & D Canal House Museum. It's not a fancy place, but it's quiet where you can take a self guided tour and learn about the history of the canal, the area around the canal and the people. There are interactive models of the old canal locks as well as some actual equipment used along the canal. Date of first-time visit was Thursday November 14th 2024. This museum is operated by the Army Corps of Engineers and it is free and open to the public. The building itself is an old pump house and the two massive pumps are located inside the building. I spoke with the woman from the Corps and got a lot of information from her since I'm not from the area. Handicap assessable and bring the kids. Free admission...

This is a small museum, it took us an hour to see and we read everything. It is well accommodating, I was able to comfortably use my walker. There is a ramp to enter the building.
