Bought tickets to the renegade monster truck show that was supposed to take place today, Saturday August 30th at 1230pm, gates open at 10am. Upon arrival around 12:10pm, all gates were closed and the lot was empty. While pulled over, trying to figure out what was going on, about 10 more cars showed up for the monster truck show, also wondering what was going on. So I called the west end fair ground association number on Google. The woman who answered the phone was atrocious with her attitude, and proceeded to tell me the monster truck show was canceled WEEKS ago, and that she couldn't give a refund and the only option was to dispute the transaction with our credit card company. I understand cancelations happen however, she ADMITTED they didn't even try to send emails out alerting anyone that the show was canceled. (Quite obviously with the amount of cars that showed up within the 5 minutes of us sitting there) No email, no sign at the fairgrounds alerting anyone, no message when you call, no alerts on their website... NOTHING. Not only was my 3 year old daughter extremely upset, I was also livid. If you cancel an event YOU NEED TO TELL PEOPLE! Even the day before would have been better than SHOWING UP AND FINDING OUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE! The lady on the phone was so bothered by my questions as if I was the one who did something wrong. I will neverrrrrrrr give another dime to the west end fair grounds. No events, no carnivals, no fairs etc. This is an insane way to...
Read moreI moved away last year but came up in time to go to the fair with my mom dad & fiance. Very disappointed. The vendors were rude and the people were especially obnoxious. The snotty lady at the lemonade stand, the even snottier lady at the sausage stand. The guy with the attitude selling french fries. Guess what people, I volunteered at the funnel cake stand. Yes it was stressful and yes by Friday, it's been a long week but, your attitudes sucked. The nice lady at the corn stand and the ever so sweet ladies selling turkey dinners from the church made it so much nicer. I was sorry to hear of the gentleman who ran the bingo stand having passed away. We always enjoyed playing. As silly as it sounds, I was really happy I'd be up visiting during the fair but next year I don't think I will waste my time and money. My thought is that if you are that miserable, don't work the fair. Peoples lives are hard enough these days and all they want to be able to enjoy a few short hours at the local fair without the attitudes of the vendors being rude. You lost a family that has been coming to your fair faithfully almost every day for the week since 1996. I'm going to start a new tradition with the fair down in Maryland...
Read moreVery crowded but íts suppose to be 🙃 Local business come together to celebrate for one week, every year, at the end of August. Plenty of built from the bottom shops to businesses being opened for over 20 years, there is much to see so be prepared to wear comfortable shoes! Food and drinks are a bit pricey but it is well worth it after you ride some rides and play some games. Many rides to offer for all ages, my toddler had more fun there than any other local fair and that's because there was more for him! They even have live stock for you and your family to go see. Rabbits, horses, cows, goats - however, this year they didn't have chickens or the little petting area with deer but that was okay. Every night The West End Fair has something new to offer. The first night for their opening they had a 20 minute firework show, it was spectacular! Their last day they had a rodeo 😲 The shows in between that were car derbies and monster truck derbies and plenty more! All I have to say is.. expect to spend more than you plan, wear comfortable shoes and it is well worth a fun family outing. Don't miss out...
