The nice thing about this park is that it's right beside the Lincoln Park Zoo, which is convenient if you need a break from the zoo, or are waiting to join others. While it wasn't overly busy on a weekday morning, there was a real mixture of school-aged kids, babies and toddlers with parents and caregivers. The playground is nestled in a grassy stretch between busy roads surrounding the zoo, but there are plenty of crosswalks to make for safe passage to and from it. The playground is large and mostly fenced in except for the couple of entrance and exit points, and lined with trees and benches. Inside the playground are sets of kid and toddler swings, a sand pit, a number of play structures for small and big kids, multiple rope structures, and several bronze animal statues. Most of the play areas are chipped wood base, with concrete pathways between them. There are also a couple of water fountains, but no water play features. The playground has two distinct areas. One area features equipment for younger children and a large sand play area with a sand table and a few toddler swings. The main area features a number of elements for older children including a large play structure, a climbing net, a unique traversing element, and additional swings.
