People have trashed this beautiful place. I am honestly surprised that anything lives in the puddle they call a pond. You can't look anywhere without seeing garbage. You can't take two steps without getting goose crap on your shoes. There are multiple signs that people blatantly ignore telling you DO NOT FEED THE GEESE but people always think "The rules don't apply to me. I do whatever I want whenever I want to" the worst I've seen was someone has literally thrown an entire plastic bag of white bread into the water. They had tried breaking little pieces off one slice, then gave up and just threw in whole slices, then decided they didn't feel like feeding the wildlife anymore and chucked the entire bag in the water.
I've seen a dozen metallic balloons with the plastic string strewn around the entire bank and in the water. I've reeled in balloons, plastic cups, grocery bags, tons and tons of fishing line, shirts, shorts, underwear. I've been fishing while people had parties at the pavilion and watched as wind blew paper/plastic plates and cups, napkins, balloons, plastic packaging, and anything else light enough across the grass all the way directly into the water...
I am always shocked when I catch a Bass or Crappie in Heritage. Not only is it crazy that so many fish can survive in such filthy and contaminated water but you always see Asians and Puerto Ricans with coolers taking Largemouth out of the pond. The pond being catch and release ONLY. The only time you are allowed to harvest anything from the pond is after the kid's fishing derby once a year when they stock Rainbow Trout, and you can only take the Trout it's not an invitation to take anything you catch.
This Park/Pond could be really beautiful if people took the slightest bit of care. Take out what you bring in, and if you drop something pick it up. Treat the park as you would your...
