My family and I moved to town a little over a year ago and heard nothing but awesome things about Ichiban but never got around to going until yesterday. My husband took us out for our wedding anniversary and we were both excited to give it a try. The sushi was good, a bit pricey and smaller then what we usually get at our usual sushi spot. The service on the other hand needs a little work. For one, we were seated with our 2 younger children and ordered somewhat quickly so we didn't have to worry about having another order infront of ours. Our waiter was polite, but it took us 15mins for him to take our order, then another 45mins to get our order mind you we went when it first open and there was no one else in there at the time. Having young children we planned on going earlier to avoid a crowd and having to wait for our food.. but it didnt happen that way. Also, my husband asked for a soda when we first arrived and never received it yet, they charged us for it on our bill. When we brought it to the waiters attention he did apologize and took it off our bill. My husband also ordered a dinner to go which he said was good, but they didnt give you a lot of meat which was a bummer. To us, it was a lot to pay what we did for the service and food.. If we went at a busy hour I wouldnt be so hard on them but being there when they first opened and having to go through the whole ordeal, we wont...
Read moreSurprisingly quick service even during the dinner rush hour. I have walked past this little gem dozens of times before deciding to try it when a nearby 'chain' restaurant had a long wait. Now I am glad that restaurant had a long wait!
The food here is great! Very clean place, nicely organized tables and menus. I had the General Tso's which had a nice crunch to it and just a bit of spiciness. The pork fried rice was clumped together like a tasty treat! Much easier and neater than other places that just flop the rice on your plate. The real surprise was the egg roll, delicious!!! You wont need sauce to add flavor at this place!
They also have one of those short legged tables (chabudai?) if you are feeling adventurous as well as chopsticks. They do have forks and spoons for those like me who don't want to send rice flying as they try to eat.
Other people in my party had crab rangoons as well as beef and chicken teriyaki, nothing but good to say! The rangoons looked bigger and fuller than other places as well! I'll be able to review them...
Read moreThe place is an all you can eat buffet and literally says that EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS of leftovers in sushi will be charged to you. Figured my wife and I would for certain have leftovers, no issue paying a fee- but asking for clarification on what the charge is, every piece you don't eat INCLUDING appetizers, it's $1.00 per piece. The description is very misleading. After speaking with the manager, she only charged us a $10 fee since we've never been to this establishment before (very kind of her) but we will not be returning.
Service wasn't all that great- we had a new server and we repeatedly had to ask for things (drinks, napkins, spicy mayo, utencils/chop sticks. Very sweet but I don't think she was trained properly.
Environment was decent but tables around us were left of old food and dirty dishes the entire length of our stay.
Food was okay- decent for buffet style. Egg rolls and rangoons were horrible. Highly recommend the dumplings and tempura...
