Update: I worked out here for a year before moving away and I stand by all I noted before. Real people, real goals, good vibes. This gym changed my life. 💪
I have been an "open gym" member for four months when I only planned on sticking around for a couple summer months. This membership is everything I wanted and more. The gym is small and the coaches know everyone by name. I received an initial assessment that gave me the opportunity to share my goals and receive individualized feedback; Sarah is very knowledgeable about the body as a whole and I was relieved that she has a similar approach to health as I do. My first month in the gym I had the opportunity to have multiple coaches walk me through some basics of the gym and foundational movements. The format removes obstacles between me and a workout; I don't have to think about what to do or how much (it's in the app), the schedule/hours keep me accountable and consistent, there is always support and smiling faces, and I never feel judged but always encouraged and sometimes (safely) pushed to lift more than I thought possible. 💪I love seeing the progress I've made in building muscle/strength, mobility, and consistency. Participating in "benchmarks" with the whole community each quarter is unique and exciting as well. Sarah even opened up the option for leading interested members in powerlifting meet prep! The new open gym coach, Matt, is a great help and always checks in with people's progress and recovery and helps with form and adding weights. I can't recommend this gym enough! The co-owners and trainers are continually improving and expanding, not growing stagnant. This is a true investment in my health and so it makes the cost worth it (which by the way is amazing for all it includes!). Other gyms wouldn't even tell me the membership fee without a tour but Prevail is transparent and will answer any questions and make sure it's the right fit. [No one asked or paid for this review in any way, it's just so good I had to share] :)...
Read moreEvery once in a while, you find people who are exceptionally great to work with. That is Andrew at Prevail Strength x Movement. I’ve had the privilege of working with Andrew for over 6 years, and if you’re considering working with him, I encourage you to take the leap.
Andrew is a lifelong learner who dives deeply into his role as your trainer because he both cares for people and he loves to learn. One of the smartest people I know, Andrew has taken the time to learn not only about how to train the body, but also about how to feed it, how to supplement it, and how to work through the injuries we all inevitably have—and he shares all that knowledge with his clients with an enthusiasm that is contagious. With some coaches, it can seem like when they learn something new & helpful, they then apply that one cool trick to all their clients. One of the things I appreciate most about Andrew’s approach is that he has the desire to keep learning, and the discernment to keep assessing his clients’ needs on an individual, one-size-definitely-does-not-fit-all, basis.
I’ve benefited from Andrew’s individualized coaching approach as I’ve worked through issues with my SI joint, a repaired ACL tear, shoulder issues, and more. Every step of the way, Andrew listens and then sets to work to help me improve, keep me moving, and help me learn how to manage the issue outside the gym. And I’m blessed to have experienced that he doesn’t do it for the paycheck or the accolades, but because he genuinely cares.
If you choose to work with Andrew, he’ll take the time to listen to your concerns and develop a plan that prioritizes both your challenges and your goals, and you’ll greatly benefit from his passion for helping people. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn a lot in the process about your body and how important it is that we keep moving. Thank you, Andrew, for being the best coach and a...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of being a client of Prevail from it's opening. I have been a personal training client with Andrew for three years and an open gym participant since February 2021. After some (fairly gentle) pushing from my trainer, I joined open gym with no real goals or expectations to get through the winter. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
If you want to be challenged and encouraged by not just trainers/the program but also other gym goers, this is your place. When you enter you are always greeted by name. No one wears headphones and sits quietly in the corner. The whole community has been encouraging, helpful and approachable. Sarah or Andrew are always available if I have questions or concerns with the exercises assigned to me. I love how easy the app and program are and can largely go on "autopilot" in the early AM to knock this off my to do list first thing. All of the guess work of what I should do, what weight should I use is off my shoulders which is why I enjoy this setting so much. I feel very safe with the professional guidance and watchful eye of the trainer on staff.
I am truly indebted to Andrew and Sarah for creating an approachable, dynamic atmosphere that supports men and women wherever they are on their strength journey. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone...
