Beautiful little place to walk around in--the walking bridge, waterfront, and playground are all kept up very well. I took off a star though because while there are plenty of park benches, there were only two picnic tables that I could see spread throughout the whole park. More picnic tables, as well as better bathroom access (especially for families, we brought young kids and it was rough not having any bathrooms nearby at 6:00 p.m. for our family picnic) would be a plus for this great spot. It does look as though it is in a constant state of improvement though so hopefully those added details will be coming soon! Otherwise it's a very relaxing and peaceful park on the water (be aware though that it is along the train tracks so sometimes the trains go speeding by and this does interrupt the tranquility--however my son is all about trains so we loved watching them go by. Just want to mention it for anyone who is thinking that this is a completely quiet spot) and I definitely...
Read moreIt's really a nice park with playground equipment, views of the river, access to the footbridge across the Mohawk and more. BUT it's really an awful way to get to the park from the North side. You have to go to the top level of the mall to park. Then walk (outside) in-between the mall's main building and the building with RAC and the liquor store. Then through this chain link fenced area. Cross the street on a covered overpass then walk down 2 or 3 flights of stairs to get to the park. There is an elevator but it looks kind of sketchy, tho it does work. And of course to leave you have to return the same route. Just poor design in my opinion. But, hey, who am I? You can also access the park from the South side by crossing the nice footbridge across the Mohawk that I mentioned at the beginning of the review. Either way, it's still somewhat awkward to get to the park. Especially, I would imagine, if you had a couple of young...
Read moreThe park itself is a nice, little, river front park, but figuring out how to get to it was ridiculous! The GPS took us to a loading dock on the wrong side of fences and train tracks. Then we saw a pedestrian bridge, but in the process of getting to it, we ended up on a street across from the parking garage and crossing the main highway access into Amsterdam.
Our only option was to turn left at the light. We sat there for FIVE cycles of lights that never gave us a green. Cars lined up behind us. We had to pull a u-turn to get out of there and we were 20 minutes late to our event, despite leaving early.
Then the parking structure was in poor repair such that the "in" lane had to be used for both in and out.
On the plus side, while waiting at the "never green" light, I misread "Beacon Insurance" as "Bacon Insurance," which made a good pair with my son's joke about...
