This could be a very enjoyable place, I see they have a splash pad now. We often grab a sub from one of the local vendors and enjoy the atmosphere. I really feel the geese are overwhelming and should be removed, it is very difficult to walk and not step in geese droppings, totally disgusting, people we have spoke with feel the same about the geese and the mess they create. Some geese are very food aggressive as well, it really is a shame.
The pavilions are dirty and unkempt, cigarette butts / trash cans overfull / picnic tables just dirty / grime and of course the geese gifts are present.
I see others fishing not sure what they catch, they appear to be having a good time.
Many out walking around the pond not sure the distance around.
The picture is the best spot we could find that day free of geese gifts, although you can see some trash present under the table other spots much worse.
So far it has not become a hangout for the homeless society.
I am really not sure what could be done about the geese, the lack of maintenance and geese are the reason I gave it a 3 star instead of a higher rating.
Edit: Another meatball sub day so I took more pictures and asked some folks about the fishing. Carp Bass Sunnys Catfish seem to be what most...
Read moreEldridge Park, located in Elmira, NY, is a beloved historic family amusement park that offers a mix of old and new attractions. The park dates back to 1857 when Dr. Edwin Eldridge purchased the land and created a sculpture garden before opening it to the public in 1870 as a place for exercise and fresh air.
One of the park's highlights is the restored 1890s Looff Carousel, featuring 56 hand-carved animals and two dragon benches. It is considered the fastest traditional carousel in the United States and one of the few with an operating brass ring feeder.
Besides the carousel, Eldridge Park boasts a variety of activities, including a beautiful lake, walking and biking paths, a 9-hole disc golf course, a skate park, picnic areas, and a playground. Amusement rides such as the Thunderbirds (flying scooters), a miniature train, pony carts, turtle chasers, and miniature boats add to the fun. You can also enjoy a round of Mark Twain-themed miniature golf.
The park is open year-round from dawn to dusk, while the amusement park operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. With its rich history and diverse attractions, Eldridge Park provides a safe, healthy, and fun...
Read moreUpdate-(2022): even though we've seen a lot of things happen this year it was great to see People Back out in full force and living life!! It's taken awhile but we need to bring this community up again. With that said I've been super proud of the Volunteers, the display of solidarity as well as the over all feel of the way people have seemed to care. This was the absolute best fireworks display this year above any year I can remember pre Covid. Not since the old rollercoaster was running and the theme park was set up. The more people they can get the easier it will be. Keep up the great work!!😎🤘
Post Covid: Love the fact that people are really coming back out and helping to revitalize the area rather than shoot up or vandalize it. I only hope to see this more coming forward and then they can...
